Cops nab 6 in plot to kill DJ

A former LifeSport co-ordinator, along with five others, has been detained by the Criminal Gang and Intelligence Unit (CGIU) on conspi­racy to murder a man in West Trinidad.
The Express understands a former Govern­ment official is being fin­gered as a person of interest in the investigation.
The ex-LifeSport coordinator also has another court matter pending.
While five suspects were detained last week, the ex-LifeSport co-ordinator was only detained on Tuesday night at the San Juan Police Station.
While details about the case are being safeguarded, the Express learnt the CIGU officers
foiled the plot after they intercepted the five suspects in a black Nissan X-trail SUV in the Port of Spain area last Thursday.
A source close to the investigation said the group was on their way to conduct surveillance on the intended target, who works as a DJ in Port of Spain.
One of the male suspects, a relative of the ex-
LifeSport co-ordinator, was held with a firearm and the vehicle was taken to the Port of Spain CID.
Among the six detained are two women, one of whom is pregnant.
The Express understands the CIGU has approached the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard, to lay charges against the six people.
