So licensing Office dont want to be computerized because....

Postby BRZ » December 2nd, 2014, 7:58 am

Our Licensing division does NOT want to be computerized because why?

HMMMM
could it be because then it would be MUCH harder to pocket money , take bribe and do their transactions on the side???

SAD! we are being held back by a few hundred who enjoy the corrupt lifestyle and make a living like that.

Jack: New high-tech number plates coming
By Anna Ramdass anna.ramdass@trinidadexpress.com
Story Created: Jul 9, 2010 at 2:56 AM ECT
Story Updated: Jul 14, 2010 at 2:49 AM ECT

By year's end every vehicle on the nation's roads will have to be equipped with a new high-tech number plate which will only be issued by the Motor Vehicle Authority, says Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner.

Warner said this new number plate will have a special micro chip which will help in the fight against crime as police would be able to quickly access vehicle and owner information.
In addition, these new plates will allow police to catch those who break traffic laws and therefore parking tickets, tickets for breaking the red light, etc, will be mailed to the owner of the vehicle.
The plates, he said, will come complete with Radio Frequency Identification (RFI) which will allow police to read them from 30 feet away.

Warner spoke of the modernisation and transformation of the Licensing Authority which will now be known as the Motor Vehicle Authority and which will be completed by the end of November.
He acknowledged that this plan was initiated by his predecessor, former transport minister Colm Imbert.
Warner said the cost for this initiative currently stood at $120 million for new hardware and software as well as professional services.
The cost to relocate the head office to Frederick Settlement is yet to be determined.
He assured that no jobs will be lost in the transformation process.
Warner said the new licence plate will be manufactured by a foreign company and issued only by the Motor Vehicle Authority.

He said the plates, which could be customised, will come in 16 different classifications including private, commercial, new/used vehicle dealers, off road, trailers, construction among others.
New drivers licences will also be issued under the new system.
Warner said sub-offices will be located in Port of Spain, Arima, Sangre Grande, Rio Claro, Princes Town, Chaguanas, Tobago, Siparia and Point Fortin.
He added that legislation to ban cell phones while driving is also in the cards.

New DP and licence plates by September
By Sandhya Santoo sandhya.santoo@trinidadexpress.com
Story Created: Apr 2, 2014 at 11:14 PM ECT

TRANSPORT Minister Stephen Cadiz said yesterday that by September, a newly-designed licence plate, drivers’ permit, and new centres for the registration and licensing of vehicles will become available.
Cadiz made the disclosure at a public consultation where the proposed Motor Vehicle Authority (MVA) Bill was introduced to the public.

The consultation, the second to be held by the Ministry, was hosted at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts, San Fernando.
The MVA will be responsible for the registration, licensing, certification and regulation of motor vehicles and the issuing of licences to drivers.

Cadiz and the Ministry’s senior legal adviser Gobin Harrypersad took questions from the audience.
Cadiz noted that over the years, amendments have been made to the existing Motor Vehicle Act but the legislation was outdated and needed to be repealed and a new one introduced.
The new legislation includes the implementation of a Graduated Driver Licence programme to be completed over a two-year period.
In addition, restrictions will be placed on new drivers who will not be able to drive between midnight and 5 a.m. unless the person is accompanied by an experienced driver who is not under the influence of any narcotic or alcohol.
A point system will be implemented, whereby the driver will have demerit points for offences committed which can lead to suspension of the driver’s licence.
Repeat offenders would have to pay heavy penalties or risk having their licence suspended or revoked.

The new driver’s licence will have a bar code which can be scanned by police on the roadside. Information to be included on the new driver’s licence are name, address, driver licence number, class of vehicle to be driven, and blood grouping.
The MVA will see the introduction of new number plates, which will come in 18 designs, with security markings to be manufactured abroad.

New registration and validation certificates will be administered and each vehicle entering the country will be tagged with a radio frequency identification marker (RFID) for additional security.
There will be 11 Motor Vehicle Authority locations, which would include the refurbishing of the present licensing offices.
In addition, a board of directors for the MVA will be set up with seven members, whereby they can make their own rules to govern proceedings.
An Accident Investigation Service will also be set up to deal with the quick resolution of accidents.
Harrypersad stated that there will be a transitional period for vehicle owners to comply with this new Bill after it was passed.

You have to excuse Trinidad media as they print what they want .
Things are being put in place as the new MVA building in Caroni is near completion and new roadway that leads to it nears its construction end. Bit by bit things are comming along.

Trinis expect everything as of yesterday.
Yesterday is in the early 1990s when i brought my first car the then PNM said computers coming to LO in south and POS. Its over 24 years with muiltple PNM terms and it takes a PP goverment to get the ball rolling.
