Officials at the Emperor Valley Zoo are today mourning the loss of its African Lion, Simba.
On its Twitter and Facebook pages today, Zoo officials posted a picture of the lion in better times, saying farewell to its friend.
The tweets continued: “Simba, was born at the Emperor Valley Zoo in 1996, hand raised by the keepers and loved by all. Rest In Peace dear Friend”
According to officials at the facility Simba was 20 years old and had exceeded the 15 year average lifespan for lions.
The Zoo says Simba died as a result of age related changes
