Windshield skin protection

Postby ENG978 » August 22nd, 2014, 9:34 am

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am looking for some method of windscreen protection to prevent/mitigate against stone chips. I know there is “clearplex” (http://www.clearplex.com).

Is there a local clearplex dealer.?

Please also suggest some alternatives as well.

Reason for this is, I have a brand new car and within two weeks I got a small stone chip pit on the windscreen (there were not any trucks at the time on the highway when it occurred!)

I appreciate your mature comments and feedback.

Thank you !

Rain X is the best thing you could put on your windscreen. Hate driving cars in the rain without it.

I used to use it, but I find after a while it almost builds up with grime in it and is a pain to remove and reapply. I use Autoglym Glass polish now and then once the 'beading' stops when going at a decent pace and thats fine for me.

Reference stone chips, I noticed one on my car last week and will get it filled once I have time but I dont think there is any real solution for glass, but just as importantly for things like the bonnet/hood VentureShield is really good at protecting against stone chips etc.

in for info .
i use rainx on my back glass only because i find it makes your windscreen scatter the oncoming light which makes driving difficult at night..

Also, i was wondering if its possible to tint the front of the windscreen ( 90 % transparency of course)
will it last?

3M Crystalline films are good at UV reduction (keeps car cool and doesnt make the sreen darker) but I'm not sure if its suitable for windscreens or not.

Kinda related but not really related their Sun Control Window Films is really worth its while for applications at home if you have large sliding doors etc. and AC as it really helps keep the heat out.

I really don't want to go off topic, but about RainX, I'm assuming you tuners use the RainX that has to manually applied. If so, y'all should try this one in the link below;
http://www.amazon.com/RainX-11801-Plus- ... rds=rain+x.
One application lasts me beyond 6 months :) :)
