Need Help with router problem

Postby rsxpert » May 21st, 2014, 7:15 am

Hey guys I have a next solaris router and when using the internet stops working after about 5-15 mins and it comes on back if I turn of the power from the router and turn it back on. If I plug the internet cable into the pc it works just fine. Can somebody tell me if I need a new router or is there something else for this?

it could be a heat issue. if its a new router make sure to take off all the plastic wrapping as this sometimes blocks the vents. if not completely reset and reconfigure. if that dont work time for a new router.

Is it flow? I've been having a similar problem where it seems like the router is at fault. However, it turned out to be interference in flow's supply line to me.
They made me change the router before they realized this

when you say that you plug the internet cable into the pc, is this from the router or the flow modem?

Try resetting the router.
I hold down the reset button for at least 10 seconds then release.

when u say the internet stops working....do u mean that u are not able to browse only or everything is disrupted? for example, if u are downloading a file and the internet stops working...does the file fail to download? All internet services or just browsing?

put a large file to download and continue to use the internet as usual....when the internet stops working, check to see if the download stopped or if its downloading as normal.

also, are u using Flow's DNS service or are u using a custom one like open DNS or google DNS?

i had a similar problem and it turned out to be Flow's DNS.....it worked fine when I plugged into it directly cuz I got an IP address from Flow....for some reason wen I use my own IP address scheme the problem occurs.

Maybe it's because the internet of your neighbours is overlapping yours.Check your network drivers, the firmware of your router(if it isn't up to date)

Check voltage to router. Make sure correct voltage is going to it.

Had a similar issue with a flow router, solved it by lowering the Tx Power Level from in the router's settings. Works like a charm now.

try taking your firewall off and see how long it stay on
sometime the antivirus does read the ip address as a threat
dont forget to put it back on. the firewall

*Firmware update, drivers isnt going to change (overlapping) issues* That is not how wireless technology works
