WTK : Motorbike shops in Trinidad

Postby bike2nr » February 18th, 2014, 1:26 pm

Hey guys, I'm looking for a 08/09 cbr 600rr or gixxer.

Can anyone advise on local shops that may have?

Your help is appreciated.

Rafeez is out alot , I'm sure he has someone in charge of selling the bikes when he is not there. With all honesty , he is someone very genuine to deal with...

Buying a used bike in trini is a big gamble. Even the foreign use are put to together bikes and not worth the risk as some are stolen and poorly assembled.

i got fedup and i eventually imported a bike myself....the process is simple, my problem was and still is the shipping company i chose to do it through.....
didn't cost an arm and leg like some will make you think, and in the end i have an almost new bike with no accident history, low mileage and its the exact bike i wanted...didn't have to "settle" for something.....

2012 WR450F (fuel injected)....ran strongly even with all the emission restrictions on it....uncorked now though....
bike2nr wrote:YES! finally......this is exactly what i thinking to do now.

first off, its much easier to do it through a motorcycle shop/dealership in the states....private sales are going to be difficult....because you must have a clean and clear title to export....if u are not there to examine the title before purchase you could end up in trouble if there is a lien on it....most shops will have clear titles on the bikes they sell.
another issues with private sales is crating the bike.....the shop i bought mine from crated the bike for $80, cost of crate included. shipping companies charge an arm and a leg to crate it, and most likely they will ask u to sign a waiver and not insure it if they crate it themselves....

any good shipping company worth something should know how to export a vehicle from the US...u need to get the title and bill of sale posted to Trinidad, sign it together with a power of attorney, have everything notarized and then send it back to the states so the vehicle can be exported....
prices vary for shipping, some have cheap freight and expensive US clearance fees, others are the opposite....in the end i think shipping, and US expotring fees were like $450 US
one company told me they cannot ship the bike in a container, and i needed "booking space" on the vessel, which was more expensive.....another company shipped it in a container...

i found my bike on cycle trader, called the dealership....asked if they were willing to help me with crating and they agreed.....
one other thing to consider, you need to get the bike from where ever it is to the warehouse/dock of the freight forwarder.....i used uship, placed an ad, looked through the bidders and chose the transport company to pick it up from the shop and drop it off at the dock.....

hardest part was getting someone reliable to get the bike from the dealership to the dock, but the guy who did the move was easy to work with and cheap.

two problems encountered....both are the shipping company's fault....first one was a loooong delay (almost 2 months) for the bike to actually be shipped from miami, and the 2nd, which i'm trying to sort out right now, is they can't find my original Title and Bill of Sale which was supposed to have been returned to Trinidad via FedEx after the bike was cleared for export......its carnival week, so everybody palancing and nobody working....hoping to get it sorted this week....
