ONE YEAR Phone warranty

Postby Premera » December 2nd, 2013, 6:17 am

Other than tstt and digicel, anyone other sellers offer 1 year warranty on their phones ?

Jaw dropped and eyes widened when the seller at the mall told me ONE MONTH only ?

Also does Samsung have a local dealership that offers extended warranty on their products ( phones, tablets, TV's )

other option is to buy directly from manufacturer. I did when i bought my N8. no issues.

pros
1. full 1 year warranty
2. handset is fully unlocked
3. none of the crappy network operator logos and such

cons
1. to get warranty the handset must be bought (and paid for) under your name and credit card
2. you must ship the handset back to the country it was bought in
3. depending on the nature of the issue - and shipping - repairs can easily take up to a month
(or possibly more)

I don't think they are the agents for Samsung mobile devices though.

when i called them for directions to drop off the tv, the girl asked if i had any samsung mobile devices i.e. phones, tablets etc.....apparently at that time samsung has some sort of promotion, any repairs to a mobile device would be free up to a cost of $300, consumer would pay the rest if it went over.....possibility exists that they can deal with technical issues, but are not distributors of mobile devices.

Duane there was an Ad in the papers ruining a couple weeks ago with Samsung advertising their local dealer - luxam industries - and inviting Samsung consumers who have issues with any samsung device to call a toll free number.

will see if i can find an old newspapers @ work and put up the ad.

those cons heavily out weight your pros, especially the 3rd con.

well thats the thing each person will have to decide whats the best course of action.
either purchase something that branded and locked with a "1yr" warranty from the local operators or buy direct.

in my case my nokia was bought directly from them but my uncle who lives in NY bought it. so the warranty is in the U.S. hes always traveling to getting it back there isnt an issue. and the 3rd point as i said depending on the nature of the issue. in some cases if its under warranty and the issue is the handset itself they usually give a brand new one. shipping may be the biggest time consumer in a repair job.

i know the problems of buying online and having to return. My experience from amazon has been favourable tho.

Bought a Motorola almost 4 years now and had no problems until a week ago........

I know the Samsung brand is different and probably not as durable as Motorola but I kinda doubt a high priced device would encounter problems as early as the first year or so ?
