I mean... There is a reason why personalized number plates are a thing.S_2NR wrote:I never understood this number plate obsession trinis have. The car that the plate is attached to matters much more. I don't care if you have a foreign used on a new plate.
The same can be said in japan. A vechicle manufactured in late 2019 would not necessarily be sold in japan in 2019. Also the time the owner stops driving it, put it up for sale, arrange to ship to t&t, the actual shipping time, clearing the registering vehicle, and being sold in t&t could well be about 6 months the vehicle was not used.agent007 wrote:S_2NR wrote:I never understood this number plate obsession trinis have. Well said, however I would like to add that when roro dealers market their stock, eg. 2018 Nissan Note 1.2, that year mentioned is the YOM. So when people purchased such a car last year, they would have gotten a 3 year old vehicle. We already know this, so what’s my point then?
Before this whole global chip shortage, logistics challenges and vehicle shortage etc. some local new vehicle dealers had “new” vehicles sitting in inventory for over a year. So chances are back when people were buying their PDY’s, PDZ’s and PEA’s to some extent, those weren’t necessarily 2020 or 2021 manufactured vehicles. Some of those vehicles were actually made in 2019 and 2018.
So we can look at someone with his/her new Corolla from TTTL with PEC plates all we want and elevate their pips and make them feel good but it could very well be a 2020 car based on seatbelt and VIN data. Another giveaway is the date stamping on the OEM tyres. I went to a showroom last year for a meeting and decided to check the dates on the tyres in the showroom and the observances would have you thinking. This was back in April 2021. The dates on some of those tyres were (3819) etc. When I checked the seatbelt, I also saw 2019. So from the time it rolled off the factory into a ship and then to Trini and then to the showroom for display, over a year has passed.
These days some roro vehicles are just as “virgin” as a new car with manufacture dates that is closer than you think. You just need to know where to shop. So all that to say a PEC new could just be a year or two apart from a PEC roro.

Trying to avoid PEE.
Might end up buying a pickup to get TEE.
