Which is the better tv? The 6050 series or the 5300 series?

Specifically UN46D6050TF and UN46EH5300

the biggest difference is that the D6050 is 120Hz and the EH5300 is 60Hz

some people like the look of 120Hz and some do not. It kinda looks like everything was shot on a camcorder.
99% of bluray movies are at 24p so a 120Hz TV is better since 24 is a factor of 120. But most ppl cannot tell the difference of a 120Hz or 60Hz at 24p anyway or it just doesn't bother them. Either one you get 60 or 120Hz, make sure your TV has the 24p setting turned ON when watching bluray. You can of course let the TV show bluray at 120Hz but it will look different from what the director intended.

120Hz mode is better for gaming and sports. If you are getting a real good price on the 60Hz TV and you don't plan to play games on it then buy that.

Is the Hz u refer to the Clear Motion Rate?

Cause I saw on the samsung website that the Clear Motion Rate for the 5300 is 120 and not 60 as you mentioned and for the 6050 it is 240

I had a problem with the 6050 and getting the 5300 as the replacement.

Am I getting ripped off?

Those inferior brands are sheit, after a couple days of watching it you will regret buying it, I bought one of the samsung 50'' 6400 series in best buy, must say it's amazing, paid like $1750. Though.

and what was wrong with it?

warranty usually covers repair and not complete replacement for a new one, so I think getting a new 5300 instead is a deal for a bad 2 year old TV.

take it and smile or ask them what is the difference for a new one or a 2013 model since yours is a 2011 model.

This is the second time in the two years i had to take it back to repair. After one year the screen was showing black and white and it was repaired. This the second year of warranty the screen had black lines across. So I dropped back and told them I don't want it back. I want a replacement or refund. Had to get consumer affairs involved because they were not even giving me feedback.

Clear Motion Rate and Refresh Rate are two different specifications. You usually divide the CMR by 2 to get the actual refresh rate. The CMR values was created and is used solely by Samsung.
