Local White Hawk Rescued

Driving on the La Romaine main road at approx 9pm last night, I encountered a group of men surrounding this Hawk on the road.
The White Hawk was initially on the pavement with a slightly damaged right wing. Across the road there is a Bar and one drunk individual decides to throw a stone at the Hawk from 2 feet away shattering the bone on the other wing. The Hawk tried to escape and went onto the main road. Another man then intervened and tried to prevent further damage to the Hawk from the drunk a$$ who at this time was trying to kick the Hawk back onto the pavement. I arrived at that time and we put the Hawk into my car. I took him to the Animal rehabilitation center in Freeport, where he was given care a medication and would be examined by a Vet later today.




This is the result of the stone.....the initial injury would have had him released and flying in less than a month. Now because of one ignorant a$$whole the wing will probably have to be amputated as the bone was shattered. He will spend the rest of his days at the clinic.




Oh and he was assisting and actually very concerned....bringing stuff to give to the Hawk.


Such a beautiful Bird.....such a waste.

Good job on the rescue. Drunk arse will get his.... sooner or later. I've seen quite a few white hawks in la brea / aripero, population seems to be doing ok.

well done.....I know this hawk lol well i mean i know of a couple of white hawks i always look out for in la romain .. theres always 2 .., i guess theres just one now ...
but very well done .....its really nice you decided to help this animal , it would have been so much easier to just walk away ...... i hope others could take example

Sad to hear how the bird got damaged.
I have seen that bird many times though. Very majestic.

There is also a huge white owl in the phillipine/palmiste area that comes out at night.
