I actually liked the race... It is almost as exciting watching strategy play out as against overtaking

Race direction was horrible though

Mercedes Still Can’t Get That Broken Wheel Nut Off Bottas’ F1 Car

The car's now being shipped back to the factory where Mercedes hopes to finally remove it.

https://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/40 ... tas-f1-car

Mercedes will be unable to remove the front-right wheel nut from Valtteri Bottas' Monaco Grand Prix race car until it returns to the team's UK factory this week. ... It later revealed the wheel nut had been machined to the axle by the wheel gun used by its pit crew.

Toto said it's partly Valterie's fault. Some bs about he stopped short and the gun couldn't reach properly and went on at an angle

Soooo what? Give the man time. I'm a big lando fan, but ricc has already out qualified him a few times.

Toto setting up Valterie to get the axe at the end of the season. Why didn't the other front wheel have the same issue if he stopped short of the marks? It's not like the air hose powering the wheel gun didn't have enough length.

You don't keep your job and get points based on your qualifying results.

Ricciardo himself said in an interview that from analysis of the data, Norris is doing things with the car that he can't do at this time. But as with the Renault, once he gets to grip with the car, he should start to perform better on a consistent basis. He has the talent.

The mechanic should cater if he comes in hot or at an angle.

You can't expect a millimeter perfect stop.

Disappointed in Toto to put blame on Bottas.

I think he needs to retire to aussie touring cars
Always said it...he'll never be WC...just another Weber / Coulthard, although I think those guys are better drivers

Near guaranteed safety car helps with the action.

Lewis pulling a 10s lead on P2 gets boring.

48 lap of a boring race.

Then every possible thing happens in 3 laps.

True dat. Very happy for Perez and Vettel. Sucks to be Hamilton with that brake error.

Def won't say it was boring. Checo getting LH on the pitstop was certainly interesting, and cars generally stayed closer throughout.

Pirelli - lying or do you all think really debris?

Easily the best Paul Ricard race ever. The tyre deg really threw things off. Well played by max, lando, ricc and Seb.
Poor bottas - as usual sacrificed hoping to help lewis.

How many times is the Merc team going to let Bottas down? There's only so much a driver can take. Again, today with the spinning out in the pit lane during FP2 costing a 3-grid place penalty? Naaah man. And let's not forget the axe hanging over his head in terms of contract renewal.

How is the team responsible for the driver losing control in this case

They asked him to launch in 2nd gear. Bottas did well considering to not end up in the pitwall.

Asking the driver to try something different I understand
Ultimately the driver is the one operating the accelerator pedal.

The question is always going to be - why ask bottas to try and not lewis?
The reason for the trial in the first place was Lewis' wheelspin out the box making him lose time and Max getting him in France.

That is easy... Only one of their drivers is fighting for the world title currently; with almost double the points of the other
