^ they're probably getting new satellite and aerial images of those countries after 7 or so years and don't want to push any new user contributions until they update and verify the entire maps.

Give it time, Google always comes through.

Like you forgot what was "new" updates recently for them  basically old 2006 images. I mean yay I can see my house now but it's the old layer.

Openstreetmaps still win hands down. I love how u can just paste an address in it and it finds it properly. Google maps always stumbles to find a good few local addresses.

Looks like OSM is updated to show the new traffic plan.

Image

The imagery is not the main issue for me, at least at this point. Its the fact that most of the roads in Trinidad & all of the roads in Tobago are not there anymore.

Looks like it was resolved. Map Maker is useful again.

What are all those numbers on Trinidad maps when you zoom in? What do they represent exactly? Surveyor's info I suppose, but what does it mean?

Oh, didn't know there was a coherent numbering scheme in Trinidad. At first glance it just seemed like random numbers in TT, and they are. On one road I would see 56 appear 3 or 4 times, or numbers appearing where there are no roads. Big numbers like 229 right next to 42, etc.

Checked Toronto and yes, they line up with houses.

Thanks

Those numbers are indeed house numbers..... Use it all the time to find customer prems.

They are 'house numbers' but they are wildy inaccurate, I believe this is the info from those wasa maps that everyone has.

The official WAZE GPS navigation thread

Postby jm3 » September 25th, 2012, 7:02 pm

As some of us on tuner are now using Waze on our Ios and Android devices and it is a community based GPS navigation system i thought we should have an official thread.

Image

So what is Waze?
http://world.waze.com

Meet Waze - a fun, community-based GPS traffic and navigation app.

Join forces with drivers in your area, easily report what's happening on the road and get turn-by-turn navigation that automatically re-routes you when road conditions change.

That way everybody's commute gets faster and safer. Smart, right?

Duane already set up an official Trinituner group on Waze for us all to join.

So please use this thread to discuss Waze, get support and ask for map updates or advice on updating the map yourself :)

Requesting map updates in sealots. I "paved" a road there today but it didn't turn out too good
Also requesting that the map doesn't tell me to turn off by Nestlé only to make a uturn back to the highway to head east. Also requesting that it doesn't tell me to make those PH taxi drives on the highway, which is turn off left then make the first right to "technically beat" the traffic light

I learned a new route through tunapuna today though, that was a fun experience, showing all the village people what a vehicle looks like.

Also requesting spelling corrections for:
Fernandes compound and El Socorro.

There are more but those are the two that comes to mind, was going to do it myself but I find the editing screen too complicated.

That editing screen is real bawls! I tried editing a few things too but it too frustrating. Will try back again sometime.

There's also a feature I can't seem to find, to record a road that "doesn't exist". Drove a few places that has me off the map & can't seem to find that to get it to record the road. Saw it in a video but can't remember which one :/
