Is anyone here into film production?

Postby Michael Knight... » August 7th, 2012, 1:29 pm

I have a screenplay that I would like someone in the field of film production to critique.

Basically I have spoken to most of the "pros" and they don't even bother to give me the light of day. (As if I didn't know). Anyway, if anyone has any experience in the field I'd like to get some feedback from them on this screenplay I have written. If you could post your email address or pm me I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Thanks for that I'll look into them. I was basically worming my way through everyone from the Trinidad & Tobago Film Company to Media 21.

I am a pretty good reader and have always been good at literature. I read novels all the time and one of the few science graduates from my class to get an A in GP. If you want I can read it for you and give you my oppinion. I am a photographer, not a video man, but if you want to kill a few lunch hours in Movie towne and we could go over it, drop me a line. Once is not no phaggy, woman empowering romance comedy I'm onboard.

Not too faggy or woman empowering. I must warn you though, it isn't professionaly written but it is grammatically sound. What's your email?

No problem at all. Thing about it is I'm in the process of setting up so I'll need cameras and actors and stuff. Before I do that though I'll need someone to critique that script I wrote anyway.

Aside from that the budget is pretty low so I'll have to rely on any support I can get for now.

I've had other ideas and screenplays but this one is the best I've produced so far, well to me anyway. Once I get an opinion I can work from there.

Just saw this post

I'm into production...music and video. I've been doing pre and post production video since 97. Been involved with Westwood Park, various music videos, D Show for TV6, D Net, the early stages of Synergy TV, Paradise Motorsports, etc. I've worked in a variety of areas from casting to lighting with full Arri light kits (1000's and reefers included), camera work with some of Canon and Sony's finest gear to editing with Media 100 and Final Cut and on location audio recording (boom and lavs). I hardly do that stuff directly anymore. I usually sit back here on tuner and read the threads left by the guys who "know" stuff. Those who know of me know what I do.

It's great to know that people like yourself have an interest in the field. I assume you had some problems launching your script because most vdeio/ film production heads are selective and would choose not to get involved in developmental projects that require heavy duty. There are those who would work with you once the script is strong, so don't get bummed down...ever, just keep plugging along.

As a fellow tuner I'll lend the help I can. If you ever need some help to find the right personnel, cast, breakdowns, etc.....let me know. Shoot me a PM and we'll go from there.

what I read so far it has a good build up. You may need to fine tune some words,
question what are you looking to do with this?
do you want to bring it to life? whats the Duration?
Are you looking for any financial gain with the final product?
do you have any financial input in this project?

Well I originally started on facebook and looked up local celebs, sent them a direct private message and left my contact information. As you would imagine I didn't get a call, but based on the amount of responses I think right here is a great place to start. As it is, right now I'm looking to just get cameras and other stuff together and group as many people as I can. I need to get as much info into how productions are put together at this point and then it's off to the cool acting stuff. 8-)

Sure, no problem at all, I'll need all the support I can get. I'll send you a copy of the script to read.

Thanks, I wanna see how this goes. I actually have quite a lot of screenplays archived and some more in the works.

Thanks for that.
Well basically I want to produce this and have it premier on a big screen maybe for the film festival.
Originally I wanted to break it up into pieces and make a tv series out of it but not sure if that would make sense or just produce it as a whole.

The money's not important to me but if it does bring financial gain somehow, not bad.

I believe that with a little guidance and the right people with the right experience, the input provided here can be spread equally. I'm not a professional at this but I do want to get it right and while I do want to have a say in what happens and what goes where I appreciate the input of those who have more experience than I do. So basically the financial input here is zero at this point, which doesn't make much sense I know...but I'm relying on as much support I can get from those who can provide it. In return, I can provide credit to those who assisted in making things happen. That's basically all I can bring to the table so far.

Hey, just to let you know, the cameras are not the most expensive part of the production. Lighting is. There are a lot of local videos I see without proper lighting or the use of ND and color gels on windows.

Oh ok, I would have never thought that the lighting was more expensive. Damn, well most of my screenplay has daytime scenes so I dunno if that's gonna cut costs?

took me 3hrs to read the story.... and for what it is its a pretty damn good script! not too over done...full of laughs.....even with the heavy use of or local lingua it was not too detached to reality altho the cane ppl threw me for a loop lol.... what will sell this is actors with serious voice acting... but at the end of the story i was a lil disappointed they should of ended up together but that's small ting.. dan it have rel potential and i would like to help in anyway i can.....i see your vision...

Great! Thanks guys. I didn't want to have a romantic ending cause that's what everyone would have expected. I wanted to leave an avenue open for them to have a sequel some how. Not sure if I did it right though.

Really wanna make this happen so what's the next step here?
