You can't expect them to jump to shishio without a proper profile of the main character, even in this movie, it had to be rushed. I honestly thought upon seeing megumi, that Aoshi and the oniwaban would be the main plot characters in the estate, excluding Ginei, so in light of that, it went past my expectations and intertwined the two instances pretty well. I'm not sure who your meaning to refer to but seijuro hiko (battousai's sensei) and sojiro seta/ tenken are both in the kyoto arc, very far away from that storyline. If they are to make a sequel it would probably be easier to start that arc with the killing of yamagata and sojiro would enter there.

Movie was better than expected, would have been great if they focused more on the techniques, people watching for the first time wouldn't know about the "hiten mitsurugi style". Fight scenes could have been a little more dramatic, guess the anime series spoiled me. Besides kenshin, the other main characters could have been developed a little more but that might have taken the movie 3hrs+.

i hear you and agree totally shaneelal
hmmmm... my take...the cinematography was good... the actors looked ok... but the storyline was too chopped up and pieced together... it lacked and needed more....alot more..while i give kudos for the use of live action and not the use of cgi and wire tricks for the ave person who grew up watching samurai x it would of been a good movie, just because they made a movie out of it...but to the fan boys the flaws are there...if a move is made to adapt animation or a book to big screen you want to see the effects of it being bigger than life...i mean it is not a real life story, they could of had some fun with it, the development of the characters could of done a bit more Yahkio appeared out of nowhere a student of the dojo already...no build up of the dramatic fight with Sanosuke and Kenshin, Shishio's part was rel cool with the eyes and the beginning with the sword.... anyways it was a ok movie...not good not bad, a movie to watch when you start to get bored... the manga is way better and the anime is legendary.... rated 2.5 out of 5

they tried to make it seem as if it could really be done in real life... the anime to real life conversion.

remember how kenshi jumped up on sano's sward and ran down to buss up sano? they couldn't put that in the movie cause nobody's that strong to hold up a man on a sward as heavy as a man and not notice. what they did in the movie was have kenshi stand on the sward when it was on the ground, and flip up when sano pulled it out from under him, which he had to be quite strong to be able to do any way.

Sequel is in the making, doubt they'll go as far as shogo amakusa. Would love to see how they portray the amakakeru ryu no hirameki effects in live action. One of the most epic things in the anime.
