Movies were really disappointing for me, missed all the marks that made the first movie so great and well balanced. Seemed like transformers sequels. Hell, they even messed up kenshin's back story for no reason. As for the ogi, kenshin was bent over, unbalanced and lead with his right foot during the swing right after emphasizing the left. I wished they would've spent more time on refining the movie than rushing to get it out. The first movie was perfection as a live action interpretation imo.

any battojutsu is led with the right while the added force behind the swing and momentum @ beyend godlike speed in the final attack comes from the left foot. In the movie, its technically not the final attack unfortunately. I thought at least they would get that right for the fans.

but he did lead with the right and end with the left...and he did state it was the amakakeru ryu no hirameki!

edit: ok i now saw what u mean. lol

but didnt he do the same thing in the series? Sojiro Seta's last message to Shisio was that Kenshin uses his left foot for the final move....but the actual move was delivered by the right foot during the fight in the series (after Shishio was swept in).

The movies are can't come close to the animated version... it's poorly directed and produced in my opinion.

Look at the manga and the anime, and you can test this for yourself actually since it is an actual technique in bujinkan. The sword is supposed to be unsheathed at the instant the left foot comes down and doesn't move throughout the stroke until it's completed. In shishio's case, he has to pivot and do it again but its the same. When you draw with the right foot in front, the swing only uses your arm's strength, the left incorporates the legs and chest to a greater degree along with the hip rotation. That's why kenshin could not defeat hiko's kuzo ryu sen because of his shortcomings in strength and pure mass, the ogi made up for that.

Here's some clarification. There's always 2 steps that ends with the left.

Yes, it was either her or her fiancée but in that instance, Tomoe's.

Watched half so far. The pacing is sooo slow though and it's over 2 hours long... Will get around to the other half some time.

watched half last night as well....i appreciate that its slow and long.....gives the viewer time to appreciate the story line better and not have to look at a rushed version with missing storylines

^ I also appreciate a slow burn but it has to be effective. And speaking of missing storylines, I just pulled up a review on it to see what the general consensus was...

"All in all, this movie is best for people who haven't read the manga. It's in no way a bad film, but the cuts and rewrites needed to fit the story into its 2-hour and 18-minute runtime make it nearly unrecognizable to people who were hoping to see the manga brought to life. Of course, if you're fine with seeing Enishi's story in a new way, this movie is a ton of fun. And if nothing else, I can promise you that the fight scenes don't disappoint."

I eh watch it yet but I'm seeing and hearing of many people who are familiar with the franchise singing nothing but praises for the film.
Now being a person who read the Jinchu Arc and watched the anime and OVAs, I'll take your review with a pinch of salt.

How de ras you could watch just half of this?
As soon as I finish work, wifey and me lock off everything else, make snacks and watch the whole thing.
Next day, we watched all...
