GS's are a lot more agile than Rotties.

Both are really loyal, attentive and respond well to training
Both have genetic disorders associated with careless breeding (that's why you need to look for registered ones, to check bloodlines)
Both are great with children.
THe GS is a lot more expensive to purchase.
I currently own a rott, but I grew up around GS - it's hard to decide if you had experience with both breeds..

Owned a few rots but always wanted a Shepherd, those dogs are amazing.

Don't see them much like i used to though.

Vexx Dogg makes sense there.

Have had one Shepherd and 2 rotts, still have one of the rotts. It's a REALLY hard choice to decide between them because the are both excellent dogs. Both are intelligent are very protective of their family. However both are prone to hip dysplasia and weak bones due to over breeding and I think shepherds have spinal issues as well.
I would have the rott because that's my personal preference but they are both great dogs!

Shepherds are one of the smartest dogs around also they eat less and sheit less than Rotts. Had 5 Shepherds in the past they are really loyal and good with kids Rotts sometimes have problems with kids and can become lazy just like any other dog...

Grew up with German Shepherds in my youthful days, had a Rottweiler in my adolescent years, and now I only deal with West Indian Shepherds and Roti-weilers that I have found on the road as strays.

Other than the larger size of the German Shepherds and Rottweilers, I have found that the West Indian Shepherds and Roti-weilers are just as obedient and protective as the more prestige breeds.

i would choose a rotty cause im biased as i had one. German shepherds on the other hand are extremely intelligent, if those dogs were any smarter they would talk.

Go with the rottweiler if you don't feel like being in the vet every 2 weeks with climate related skin issues. Of course every GS owner will insist that THEIR bloodline is of higher quality and doesn't give any trouble.
