As a result of the extent of his injuries, Port of Spain Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor was forced to adjourn the matter in which Le Blanc, triple crown winner Machel Montano, Kernel Roberts and Joel "Zan" Feveck are accused of assaulting four people outside the Zen nightclub in Port of Spain in 2007.
When the matter was called yesterday, Montano's attorney Dana Seetahal SC was due to respond to the State's closing submissions in the matter. However, Le Blanc's attorney, John Heath, told the magistrate his client had suffered injuries to his right arm, left leg and buttocks. Heath said Le Blanc also received stitches to his left knee, making it painful for him to flex the joint.
As a result of this, the attorney said his client would be unable to sit through the proceedings, before requesting a month's adjournment.
Baboolal-Gafoor, however, said she was not willing to grant such a lengthy adjournment. She also asked why a medical report was not submitted to the court outlining Le Blanc's injuries.
"I have no problem with adjourning the matter today because clearly your client is in some sort of pain. He would know how he is feeling today, but why didn't he bring a medical report?" asked the magistrate.
Le Blanc was given until April 25, when the matter will again come up for hearing, to submit the report.
Following the adjournment, Le Blanc told reporters he got into the accident in Malabar close to the O'meara Industrial Estate. He said following the accident, his car burst into flames resulting in him having to smash the driver's side window in order to get out. This was how he sustained the injuries to his right arm, he said.
Le Blanc, Montano, Roberts and Feveck are charged with assaulting Brandis Browne, Gerard Bowrin, Russell Pollonais and Janelle Lee Chee outside the nightclub on April 26, 2007.
Montano faces an additional charge of using obscene language.
