Peter Taylor, leader of new political party, United Free Movement.A new political party is set to offer T&T another option in terms of political representation. The party will be led by its political leader, Peter Taylor, a former Legal Affairs minister in the People’s National Movement. Taylor is also a lawyer and an author.
A release from the party, United Free Movement (UFM), announced that the party had officially registered its logo with the Elections and Boundaries Commission.
The statement said this cleared the way for the party to contest the polls in any local or general election in T&T. Chairman of the party, Victor Phillip, said the organisation would soon be presenting its executive and would soon thereafter be announcing a shadow cabinet to the nation. The party’s logo is three triangles, representing the three mountain peaks also known as the Three Sisters located in Southern Trinidad.
“Each of the logo’s triangles are red, yellow and blue representing the diversity, ethos and richness of the people of the twin island Republic of T&T, the release stated “The party’s motto is “Thinking is Free”.
