Baby Isiah, who was born in the toilet of a fast food outlet in Sangre Grande on J’ouvert morning, has died.

A news report last night said the baby, whose story touched the hearts of many people, died early yesterday morning, but the exact cause of his death is still unknown. There was some speculation, however, that the baby may have stifled to death, the report said.

“The information that I have is that little Isiah passed away some time during the early hours of this morning (yesterday),” Dayne Francois, a Sangre Grande councillor, was quoted as saying in the report.

“There has been a lot of speculation as to the cause of death. Now, it will be a little premature to determine the exact cause of death based on what is being communicated.”

Baby Isiah was born in the toilet at KFC’s Sangre Grande branch because his teenage mother, Shawna Nagassar, did not know she was going into labour while in the restaurant’s toilet.

A KFC employee, Alicia Espinoza, who reportedly had some nursing exposure, retrieved the baby from the toilet bowl.

Staff at the Sangre Grande District Hospital had subsequently given the mother and son a place of refuge.

Last night, the news report said Nagassar was warded at the hospital while an autopsy on baby Isiah is expected to be performed this week.

That said... it is possible for a pregnant woman to mistake labour pains for needing to go to the toilet. Many documented cases of this happening.

Some women have absolutely no smptoms up to delivery... some even have their period (usually after the second child though). Not defending nobody in this instance, but such is the case.

some have none, I know one girl who had her period (or something like it) for 7 months into the pregnancy. I know another who was gauging rght through...she gone missing for a few days & come back with a baby. Nobody knew she was pregnant.

The child prolly better off dead, what kinda life he woulda live with that mother who clearly doesn't even deserve life.
