If WI can get babar azam out for less than 50 runs thats enough of a victory for them at this stage.

After the 10th over when the powerplay was finished and the spinner came out I predicted a wicket would fall in that same over yet still hoping I was wrong. lo and behold King got out bowled that over to the spinner. Turned off watching the match and only heard about the final score that WI lost later on. WI well primed for the whitewash come Sunday. If only had they won this match the series would've been opened making the match on Sunday an interesting one to watch, now I' m not taking a peep of that game.

I know how much that must have hurt you.

Pooran seems out of his depth as captain.

The whole team out of their depth, I think WI lucky they weren't playing on the original ground that this ODI series in Pakistan was supposed to play in, PAK would've truly blown us away much more easily than they did here. WI should only be playing teams like Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Scotland etc...

The slide back down the Superleague taking place after that Netherlands bump. Remember all these ODIs have context. 9th place and lower have to play the WC qualifying tournament.

There is no doubt the WI will have to play the WC qualifying tournament.

I will be happy, however, to be proven wrong.

Not only will they have to play the qualifying tournament, they most likely won't be able to quality for the World Cup either. Netherlands who is ranked #12 already proven they can compete against us and perhaps next time might actually cross the line. Zimbabwe is actually quite stronger than the WI and has beaten top teams in the recent past to WI already. And well the others no need to mention them as they would easily wipe the floor with us.

I now just saw this and fell over laughing. Good bowling by him though.

But the "real" bowlers bowling a pack of tata as per usual.

Pooran needs to take that yellow colour thingie from his head.

He seems blighted with it.

Too much bling and not enough blang.

Pooran's bowling may keep him from being dropped, his batting form is non-existent.

England just chased down 299/5 in about 4 hours and change, to win the 2nd test against NZ.

Amazing.

That was some test match.
YJB really whacked them but it seems NZ suffered being a bowler short with Jamieson out.

Also saw a stat that shows how much more Test cricket England play than everybody else - he has almost the same amount of matches played as Southee who has been playing four years more and Bairstow wasn't a permanent fixture in the England side either.

^Watch this pair put on a 100+ run partnership. IT was good while it lasted, the fall of early wickets.

FORMER West Indies opener and ex-CEO of the TT Cricket Board Suruj Ragoonath said Cricket West Indies (CWI) and cricket boards around the world will have a “herculean task” to keep players motivated and willing to represent their respective teams because of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), which became richer after a new deal.
The IPL is now pushing for an official two-and-a-half-month window in the calendar so that all the top players would be able to compete in their tournament.

Ragoonath believes that the longer format of the game is under threat. The IPL announced a deal on Tuesday with Disney Star and Viacom 18 worth over US $6 billion over a five-year period from 2023 to 2027.The deal is 2.96 times higher than the previous IPL rights deal from 2018 to 2022 which was worth US $2.55 billion.
Prior to the latest deal, IPL players were already among the best-paid athletes in the world. The West Indians chosen in the 2022 IPL auction were Dwayne Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Holder, Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, Rovman Powell, Dominic Drakes, Alzarri Joseph, Sherfane Rutherford, Fabian Allen, Obed McCoy, Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers.

They joined Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell who were retained by their respective franchises.
The total price paid for the West Indies players was US $10.855 million.Russell ($1.6 million), Pooran ($1.433 million), Holder ($1.166 million), Hetmyer ($1.133 million) and Shepherd ($1.033 million) were all signed for over one million.

We should enjoy test cricket like the one today while we can. Given what is being said in this article, I feel IPL will expand to a season lasting 5 months by the end of this decade. More matches will mean they can negotiate an even bigger deal in 2027. New franchises will also pay a big premium to be part of the league. The other T20 leagues around the world will also take up a big part of the calendar.

England and Australia will continue to be able to pay their players salaries to compete with IPL, but all of the smaller teams will suffer as their players will opt for private leagues.

After watching around 1600 runs scored in 5 days in England to now watch WI scrape 88 runs in 47 overs is hard.

It's a test just to watch !!

England showed the WI just how they should have played the Netherlands in 50 overs.

England - A WORLD RECORD 50 OVER SCORE - 498/4 (3 centurions) (50 overs)
Netherland - 126/3 (25 overs)

Tuner still taking long to load so I gone.

England have all their best players avaliable to play. Root doesn't play IPL. Our best batsmen play IPL and have no interest in first class and test cricket. All our aggressive batsmen no longer interested in tests..... which is why we struggle to score quickly.

Shakes, all the series you mentioned are played by England, Australia and India, or the ICC Big 3. Those countries plus New Zealand, are all high income countries who can pay their players big salaries for national duty. The problem is the other countries who don't have those resources to compete with IPL. That's why you see so many players retire from test cricket to focus on T20.

The introduction of that test championship would ensure test cricket stays. It may not be a big deal to some nations...but Eng, NZ, Australia and India......most definitely!

Windies players need a lot more exposure in county cricket in order to up their game. Look at Lara and Viv. I believe test cricket is more of an individual choice and it takes a lot of discipline which happens to be lacking ah whole lot in the Caribbean.

How many upcoming players in the Caribbean can we look forward to? All I could think about is Solozano and young chanders
