The embassy of El Salvador in Trinidad and Tobago is requesting urgent humanitarian assistance to aid the nearly 14,000 people displaced by floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains over the last week.
The Salvadorian government has declared a national state of emergency in light of the disaster, which has claimed 27 lives and destroyed entire villages, causing almost 4,000 families to be evacuated to 209 shelters across the country.
The El Salvador government has appealed to the international community, asking for donations either in funding or in kind.

Items urgently requested include food, bottled water, personal hygiene products, waterproof mats and blankets, protective gear and first response equipment, new clothes for adults and children (including underwear), fuel, first aid kits,
