Kamla in Hospital

This is the official statement from the Office of the Prime Minister:
The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is presently undergoing medical assessment, examinations and evaluation at St Clair Medical following complaints of feeling unwell this morning.
She is resting comfortably.
Further updates will be provided later today.

PM undergoes tests at St Clair Medical Centre
Wednesday 28th September, 2011



Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar could remain at the St Clair Medical Centre for up to 24 hours.



Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is undergoing medical assessment, examinations and evaluations at St Clair Medical Centre after complaining of feeling unwell.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister said she is resting comfortably.



Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh visited the Prime Minister earlier and told the media that she could stay for approximately 24 hours, but she is being monitored.



Earlier on Wednesday, Mrs Persad-Bissessar attended AMCHAM's 15th annual Health, Safety, Security and Environment Conference at the Hyatt Hotel. She was seen limping and was asked by reporters about it. However, she dismissed their concern saying "old age" was catching up with her.

As reports stated, the PM is well and in good hands. Wish her FULL recovery soon. There's no need for grief.

It would be tragic and there will be mourning, but there are protocols which are in place to ensure the government remains intact and the country continues to run if such an occurrence were to happen.
