WTK - Car Rental in Tobago for Age 23 person

Hey guys, in a bit of a jam here... heading to tobago on the 15th and 16th of July and need a car rented but the oldest among our group is 23 years old, so just asking if you all know of any rental agencies that cater for that young age bracket...even if it means paying a higher insurance premium. Thanks!

Nope... it's a liability. And no matter what even if you get someone to rent you and you pay higher premiums, if you cause an accident, the insurance company will not cover the parties involved whether comp or 3rd party.

Just recently spoke to a guy regarding a 24 year old tourist who crashed a rental into a residential premisis and while by contract she was responsible to pay the excess for the damages to the car, I think it reached a point where the company had to stand their losses & repair the premises cause they were advised that they did in fact write a contract knowingly with her underage... so she got away with it and left the company with a lot of expense...

So no, not driving for 3 years... not 25... no rental.

The age limit thing sucks. I believe the rule is 3 years drivers permit holder and over 25 years.

All of Crown point is a rental area... just ask around. If it's great fete/ race time or big times like easter etc you won't get one so easily

Yea lol but the boat was booked up far in advance

Was a last minute kind of lime.

I found a place though but you have to pay a big security deposit and accept all liability if I do get into an accident. Not a big deal (hoping that no one hits me that is).

there are places right at the airport.....tobago auto rentals....check them first....

also once a relative of mine could not get a car ...all were rented out......he meet a dude who rented him his "p" car for the weekend to make a lil extra change....lol........

man gonna do anything for money these days......

u will get a car...look around .....crown point area...

there are ppl who rent P cars if u wanna go that route...not legal of course

Since when?

As long as you have rental specific insurance you can rent a "P" vehicle... There are rental places that have done it here...

Not saying that there aren't the guys who rent their private cars, but private plates in rentals is usually more of a safety thing here. Many clients don't want people to assume they are tourists or business owners... and thus put them a risk for robberies etc.

Big downfall of "P" though is that usually if someone decides to steal your car and goto Trinidad with it, it's easier than "R" as this not allowed without written permission (although this has happened too)

My father knows someone in auto rental, but she personally hates me so I fraid to ever check them :lol:
