Politics has a MORALITY of its own

That is why

We continue to be a 3rd world country.

We do NOT vote on issues.

The People are last on the list to please.

We continue to be lead by dinosaurs.

We was a third world country under PNM but thats changing before our eyes. PNM is our problem and we need to stop the cult. The PNM voted for crime by not supporting the new hanging bill.

There are a couple amendments in the bill offered by the P.P. that if made to the constitution, will allow the privy council, to come in and make the death penalty illegal, that's why they withheld support for it's passing...as well as other controversial amendments.
So people try to at least find out about the issue, before coming in here and breying PNM this and that....and no!, i'm not a PNM supporter.
I myself was wondering why the PNM didn't support the bill and committing what seems to be tantamount to political suicide. So, i researched before i made any judgement.

Thank you! You saw exactly what the PP was trying to mask in the Bill.
You did your due diligence and it paid off.

+1 for your openness.

The PNM actually did EXTREMELY well for the nation on this one.

The only third world thing in this whole issue is the fact that people still think the death penalty will reduce crime.

Precisely. They willingly involved in a situation where they're more likely to be killed by their own fellow gang members, rival gang members, dons, or the police. They know this and they still engaged in it.

How exactly will the death sentence deter them?

And if you acknowledge that the death sentence is not a deterrence to crime, why be passionate about it at all?

They will not change a thing. I can put money on that.
They are an extremely left leaning party... They do NOT want executions. That is why they put in that clause with the international human rights-and tried to snuff it through as constitutional law.

Watch and see!

This is something BOTH sides support and want ie the resumption of hangings.

Yet collaboration cannot yield a result both can agree to.

What a fine example they set.

The PP waving the "Hanging Bill" as a MAJOR deterent to crime......ha ha ha what utter bullsh!t.
They are an exhausted bunch with no ideas on how to deal with crime so they make this bill their FLAGSHIP crime busting tool.

I think you voted for crime by putting the PP in office because so far they got rid of Suatt, and SIA then they wont even pay the police officers.

If the government doesn't want to meet the PNM demands, it will not pass. Thats why there is a 2/3s majority rule for constitutional reform.

It is good to have a strong opposition to keep the gov't in check but they they should express themselves more constructively and explain to the people why they didn't support the bill and stop talking about the past about who said what.

"Bullying" and "Disrespect" should never be the cause for non-support of legislation. If the PNM had a valid reason for voting against the Bill, I have yet to here any member of the PNM espouse that reason.

we shud hang politicians who say that politics has a morality of its own and keep hanging till we get some with new idealogies, the cycle must be broken and the 'tricks of the trade' must be abandoned and new standards adopted for acceptable code of conduct in public offices and integrity by speech

i will leave it open to whether i mean to literally hang them or not.....politicians are directly and indirectly responsible for serious crimes that affect us all

white collar crime is just as damaging, some may argue even more so than regular crime since white collar crime has the potential to affect a larger group of people simultaneously
