I tell them bring back my old Arris modem.

Internet still dropping with the new CWC modem.

My dropping problems stopped when my modem was replaced. *knock on wood*
I had the same white modem before (couple yrs old tho) and they just swapped it for a brand new one. Highly possible the old one was defective.
I use it in modem mode though so cant comment on the wireless part of it.

It really did not give problems before, but this dropping thing started about 2 months ago and has not improved at all.

Sunday, my internet dropped about 4 times in 1/2 hour.

they should check your signal at the grey box and at the modem.
they rewired from the pole to the grey box at my house to fix some noise on the line before they eventually changed the modem. overall the whole back and forth for the dropping issue lasted months before it was fixed properly.
so good luck man lol

There are more than 1 white modems?
The white one I have is also an ARRIS, with pretty much identical GUI as the old black one. Well except for 5Ghz wifi additional

My black Arris is just the old brick modem, no WiFi built in.. i always believed having my own WiFi router and stuff yielded better stability

You really know your stuff.

Another Flow tech came this morning but he did not have my old black Arris with him. He proceeded to do what the other technician did not do last week. He checked the signal at the grey box outside and at the modem.

He realized that the tolerance levels were way off, especially for the uploads. He explained to me that the uploads is what you use for video / facetiming etc.

He attached some things to the modem, changed out some of the switches in the grey box outside and rechecked.

The tolerance levels were close but not quite. He said that might be due to how the cable lines, on the pole, are configured.

Another technician is coming tomorrow to check the cable lines on the pole outside, for the neighbourhood.

He also told me that the Arris modem has 18 channels and the CWC white modem has 24 so I would be downgrading if I took back the Arris modem.

But me eh no techie.

Yeh that's my setup
Only time I have issues is when it's a area issue but my network works solid
Have a dual band and a hotspot router for business(which not in use since covid no customers) lol

Same identical appearance on the outside but different firmware which I verified when I logged in to disable the wifi, firewall and bridge it.
The old one I got around 2018. So basically lasted three years before it got problematic and needed changing.

The Technician came early and started work on the connection on the pole. He then moved to the grey box outside. What was discovered was some poor coax work . The installer or Technician who last worked in those areas cut the central wire in the coax too short. It was not making a consistent connection.

I was advised to get an additional router centrally placed in the house or a stronger repeater.

despite me having a low ping to my third party DNS, I find some sites have an initial lag when loading and sometimes the infinite scroll of the FB timeline hangs. Dunno if it's Safari playing the ass.

Flow internet down in Chase Vlg, they used to be very reliable with downtime once or twice a year, now it seems like every month.

Seems flow did a bump up on the upload speeds. I’m now getting 300/ 25 Mbps on the select plan (which is supposed to be 250/15) according to the website.

Not bad.
