Anyone knows the "default" password that FLOW now use on the white Arris model# TG2492LG? The one on the label no longer works.

Oldest trick in the book. Promise higher speeds to keep customers put. Most never check to see if speeds increased.

Has anyone been able to achieve at least 80% of the "up to" speed being advertised

I don't think you understood the question.

Have you been able to get anywhere near those speeds by actually surfing the internet/ downloading a file/updating Windows/torrent

Use a program like hardware info and monitor;
How long does it take to download the Windows ISO file for example.

You are conflating pipeline throughput speed with server source speed. They are independent metrics.

What you are asking is dependent on what server you have connected to (its file serving speed and connection speed) and your ISP speed.

Just trying to figure out if anyone gets anywhere close to 80% utilization of their max "pipeline throughout" under any circumstances really

That's throughput, not throughout.

I had 500 megabits/sec down with FLOW for a bit, and there are a few sites which you can utilize the full amount.

I have gotten 60+ MB/s from Microsoft and Megaupload using native install.

Steam caps you at 10 MB/s, Origin/Epic/Battle.net is around 20 MB/s

The upload speed is a limitation of Cable technology IIRC.

I believe FLOW only gives out static IPs. I've had the same one for about a year now but im not 100% sure about it.

Well if this is true, that is good news. Thanks.

I had the same one for years, but after about a 10 day outage it changed but kept the new one since.
I sure of this because after rebooting 100x and getting same IP, I had to clone MAC address to change IP.

kamakazi wrote:Has anyone been able to achieve at least 80% of the "up to" speed being advertised

Yeah I get it in South(Sando/Gulf/Cross crossing), Central(Couva), Trincity.
Only things I ever tried was Steam and some windows/office isos, some phone roms and torrents.

Roms was on one of them free filesharing site, so that speed was tooze.
A few times I get higher than the advertised speed with torrents but it fall back to just under the max, so I would say 80% or more, and yes everytime, unless the sources at fault or too little.

Those winISO files don't usually download at maximum if you using the regular browser downloader.
It doesn't take so long to warrant using a next program, but I tested a few times using Download Accelerator and you would usually get the maximum speed as long as the source allows it.

teems1 wrote:Steam caps you at 10 MB/s, Origin/Epic/Battle.net is around 20 MB/s

Nah boss. I think your steam client has throttling turned on.

Last big game I download I think I was paying for 175mbps (21.875 MBps) and it would stay between 21-23MBps even causing youtube to buffer and sites with plenty images to load a lil slower, but I don't think they had a option of 15 in the throttle options. I think was 10 and then 25.
Now this current version have a box where you could type a custom number.
In Big Picture mode it last 2 options is still 10 then 25.

Call and have a tech sent out. Over the Easter weekend, there was an issue with the line and a section of it had to be replaced. It's back to normal now.
