IT-Tuners Help Again with battery needed!

Postby d.d.s. » October 28th, 2010, 5:21 pm

Yeah tuners, following a recent post of mine (see quote below) the laptop shut down on me. No power at all! Nothing is coming on! Not even powering on AC power!

I would like to know if this is definitely a battery problem or could it be some other problem?
Additionally, where or from who i can purchase a new battery?

Again, it's a HP ProBook 4510s and the Compatible Part Number as follows:
HP 513130-321, HP 535808-001, HP HSTNN-OB89, HP HSTNN-XB89, HP NBP8A157B1, HP NZ375AA

d.d.s. wrote:Hey tuners, so I have a HP ProBook 4510s approximately 10 months now. It has windows 7 Professional (32 bit) installed. The laptop has a battery life of 4hrs, works super great and I absolutely had no problems with it until yesterday.

All of a sudden there is a red X on the battery icon in the system icons tray with an error ‘Consider replacing your battery’. Now since this laptop is less than a year old, I didn’t think that the battery would need replacing so quickly. So I googled the error and low and behold, is not I alone have this problem. Apparently, it an error / bug with windows 7. (check links below). Has anyone else encountered this problem?

The thing is I search for a fix but came up empty handed. Can any tech-tuners help me fix this problem? Or do I have to buy a new battery? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

^^
i didn't have to.
a 4.0Gb machine running 32bit, thats not the OEM software.
but that ID is an older build, hence my suggestion you try a newer one.

I do however also have the 64bit version.
Do you think i should be running that instead?

how much ram do you see usable in the screenshot you removed?
you don't want all 4Gb available?

sure you could probably fix it yourself if you're certain the battery is not bad but call HP if it's under a year old, the warranty should be valid worse case you have to update the power management software, best case you get a new battery with another year of life...

take the batt out see if it powers on with just the ac adapter
test the batt to see if it holding charge
sounds like a mobo problem though because even with a windows issue it would still boot to at least the bios

cinco, i took out the battery and even with the AC adapter, it still not powering on. The charge/battery light not even coming on!
I figured was battery problem, so i was looking into purchasing a new one but if you say it can come on with the AC adapter alone, then probably is another problem i.e. a motherboard problem.
Can you recommend by whom / where i maybe able to fix the problem?
