Hey guys,
was wondering it's possible to go build my own dell PC/Laptop on the Dell website and have it shipped down to Trinidad with my credit card?
not too keen on the laptops they have on amazon..prefer to build my own

hmmmm, i dunno. try e-mailing them first to inquire...hope i was able to assist enough...but i don't think it matters though. do u have a skybox or u shipping directly? maybe u should find out if they ship directly.

you can go to the dell TT site, customize and ship with your local credit card right to your door.

Of course you don't have as much choices and options as the US, but not bad either way

You cannot go to the US site without a US cc as well as your when it goes through, They will cancel payment if it was made outside of the US with a US card. When your ready i can help

huh??? what the hell u talking about...i think it does work...just add a US address as ur secondary billing address on ur credit card...like a skybox or so. that's what i did for alot of other sites..but as i told him...e-mail or even call them to confirm.

Check the prices on the US vs TT sites and make ur decision accordingly. Old stock usually gets sold to 3rd world countries, for example, when new processors come out, you can't get a system configured with it on the TT site.

Keep in mind shipping charges. US Site shipped to skybox is cheaper than TT site shipped to trinidad.

Average desktop shipping to Trinidad: USD $200
Average laptop shipping to Trinidad: USD $77
Shipping to skybox, typically free.
Shipping from skybox to Trinidad: Laptop - $150, Desktop...not sure, probaby about $400

do as foss says, but if you not gettting the options on TT site & you want to try ordering from the US, make sure the warranty valid to down here, for sure i knw you will hv to upgrade the warranty to advance in order to be covered internationally on laptops, not sure bout the desktop.

Once they know it leaves US warranty is void, i think he is going for US site cuz TT site price also models varies. I have supplied Dells from US site and never had a problem with any going for back warranty. If it happens it not difficult

I thought that Dell has an International transferable warranty? I think you can activate your warranty online and even if its sold the warranty can transfer to the third party, not sure though.

Bought a XPS Desktop off the TT site last week, choices not as good as US site, but warranty is honoured, shipping was $US 65.00, much less than expected and still got a good enough machine for the purpose.

That sounds great, I was checking out a laptop for someone on the dell tt site and the shipping was $120 USD. Ended up buying a laptop on amazon on special, skybox shipping was about $30 USD.

u can purchase from the US site using an international credit card and ur skybox address.
i did this jus d other day by purchasing a hard drive from the US site.

in terms of warranty, i was told by those customer reps they have on the site u can chat with that u must take the 3 year warranty for it to be honoured in trinidad...

warranty will be honored as international processing is already factored in.
Do a test on a couple random machines.
Configure on on the US site and on the TT site, the price and available features will vary according to the different regions.

Tip: spend the extra $$ for the complete care - not much but totally worth it.

hmm..ok well thanks for all your input, i can do either or..so i think il go with the Dell TT site to be safe bout the warranty thing.

too bad the TT site doesnt have the kinda options the US site would have though. and it ends up costing about the same as a config. on the US site with far better specs
