For the Samsung NVME drive I would say yes; they just run warmer. To get a definitive answer get hardware info, select sensors and leave it running in the background while you use your PC. If the maximum value gets anywhere near 70 deg C you definitely need a heatsink

Been using my Samsung NVME drive for over 3 years now for various different things, no issues with overheating, then again like I've said before I've got 4 case fans keeping all components additionally cooled.

I think its more the PCI Gen4 ones that susceptible to overheating.

Yea you could be right those drives are twice the read / write speeds of the Gen 3. I think those go up to 8GBps whereas the Gen 3 goes up to 3.5GBps.

nope, that keyboard is advertised as rgb but its not addressable rgb meaning you can't change each individual led color, that's a hardware limitation not software

the leds are soldered onto the pcb and separate from the key switch itself
if you feeling adventurous you can desolder the led's and put in a different color but that's a lot of work

Need me some help with my wireless setup… I just bought a new ASUS ax82u router but my old one (ac 1300) doesn’t support Mesh mode.. can I just run a lan cable from the old to the new and let it be? Or do I need to switch the old to ‘access point’ mode?

It depends on what you have connected to them.
Might be better to set the new router as an Access Point

Intent was to come off the modem with the new router and dedicate that to PCs and consoles. And branch off to the older one for mobiles and tv streaming

Yeah you can do that. Just set the old router as an AP if you want everything to be recognised as one network.

Hey guys, was looking at men trying various cooling applications for systems.

An issue most seem to be having is condensation at low temps.

Has anyone ever designed a sealed case for the tower with a dedicated cooling unit that can achieve sub zero or close temps where they remove the air and replace it with something like dry nitrogen?

Its like putting the whole unit in a sealed deep freeze with no air in it. No air means no humidity, no humidity means no ice / frost.

Wouldn’t at that point of replacing air with dry nitrogen in a vacuum, the air density to be pretty much a fluid and heavy?? How would heat exchange happen efficiently? because there will be heat generated by the now system which is more dense, so I suspect a lot of stuff will have heat saturation..

I like your thinking, school me if I was wrong in any of my assumptions. But I’m thinking as efficient as radiators are won’t it be more sensible to cool said radiators (like a chilled water system) externally and then work on combating the condensation which might come up inside the case with your intended sealed nitrogen chamber??

Check out mineral oil pcs, it’s different but somewhat similar because of your intent with denser gas and its effect on moving parts

Air is about 3/4 nitrogen.

Air has water vapor. No water vapor = no water to condense in the box.

You can drop it to as cold as you need it.

Yes chilled water is far more efficient but the risk of something forming a leak. No water is not the only liquid you can use, you can use coolant or mineral oil.

Yes I'm aware of submerged systems in oil. Oil is however an isolator and will hinder electrical conductivity in low voltage connections like ram and USB. Provisions will have to be made to seal it.

Carbon dioxide or argon could be used as well.

Carbon dioxide is dense and is a fire suppressant.

Nitrogen can be more easily accessible depending on where you are. It's not a written rule that it be used.

So there were cascade cooling systems available for PCs in the past(just to cool one component with a cold plate)... Not sure if they are still being made today. These systems were really made for only the most extreme users or for overclocking records

Mineral oil is not the only thing used to submerge PC components... There are fluro chemicals made by 3m for the purpose also.

All these things are overkill in my opinion. Air and or an air conditioned room is decent enough with a large enough heatsink

This is 2021, we past mineral oil, that's a known carcinogen.

There are coatings that can be applied to boards and electronics developed for maximim heat transfer and you can submerge it.

Action products from the land down under has one especially for that purpose.

They coated a few boards and submerged em. Even had some lizards walk around on a live board on YouTube.

Mineral oil designed for human use and mineral oil used for heat transfer is two different things sire.

Transformers use mineral oil for cooling, will you rub that on your skin? Know what, don't answer that ciz I had this argument already.

Where in TnT can I find a decent ATX or m-ATX case?

Putting together a system for my parents and I might just end up getting the damn case locally because of shipping costs.
