What primer should I use and is it the same way(via roller) to apply to the fridge? Trying to make this a DIY project.

Thanks

Buy two or three cans of appliance paint and one can of grey metal primer. Sand rust spots to bare metal and prime them before painting.
No need to treat the rust spot before priming? If yes, what should I treat it with?

Sand the rust spots down to bare metal. Autobody filler for low spots, sand, prime and paint. That's if the rust spots are just superficial. If it's bad there'll be some welding to do.

To find the leak or to seal any porosity?

There are many sealers/membranes on the market you paint on
Eg traditional roofing compound from kaleidoscope as well as more expensive high tech ones.

You should try and find the source of leak though.

Realistically it has to be a screw head thats leaking....we changed the screws and put new ones but if rain falls for several hours it would still leak.

So looking for something that could paint on or spray on in the whole area to hopefully stop the leak

I start my stove repainting project las nite. Purple blaster and rust remover.

May not bother to use the primer as the rust remover could also be used as a base primer if you leave a coat of it to dry instead of washing it off

If you have a ding in an appliance's external housing, don't bother with filler. Sand, paint and move on. If you have holes, you aren't doing yourself any favors by refinishing the housing. Unless you are a historical collector - buy a new appliance to replace it. The life cycle of a major appliance is only about twenty years.

if you didnt check, it could be a badly overlapped sheet edge which only affected with certain wind conditions, could be a very tiny hole on a crest.

If you can get under, try using a light to see, eg at night shine a light from above and vice versa.

If you are confident it is a screw then roofing compound could work, would have to use a roller.

I used wonder rust remover to remove..then as a primer

After, i used Rust-Oleum appliance paint
Dont use the kelvin ghany paint...cheaper but waste of money
