Anyone used/using a de longhi espresso machine?

Really fantastic performance from the Dedica series. I use the dedica grinder also.
I noticed you have the identical Keurig machine as I do.matix wrote:X_Factor wrote:What's brewing these days?

I know one is a coffee maker versus an Espresso machine, but if you were to make an Americano using the DeLonghi, how would the taste compare to the Keurig if using the same coffee?
Do you still use the Keurig?
Btw - what is the chemistry setup on the left used for?
pugboy wrote:when you say "same coffee" as in using one of the self fillable kcup pods ?
You can get very comparable results for americano if your grinder is good and setup right for the kcup machine(with good beans)
I no longer use an espresso machine and just a cuisinart kcup machine and a baratza vario grinder
actually gave away a gaggia classic with full pid setup lol, too lazy to do the whole tamping thing anymore.carluva wrote:I noticed you have the identical Keurig machine as I do.

Almost all commercial coffee shops do not extract good espresso which is the foundation for a decent americano... that is why the taste varies drasticallycarluva wrote:Was a bit vague, but yes... Same type of coffee, same grind and using the refillable kcup basket.
Personally, I like my Keurig and found that the coffee is great tasting. Compared to Americanos I have bought out side with the professional makers, I have always found that the Keurig does a good job. Hence why I am torn on a DeLonghi or other similar espresso machine.pugboy wrote:when you say "same coffee" as in using one of the self fillable kcup pods ?

Unless you looking for bells and whistles I wouldn't upgrade.
They probably have better output heads than the current machines.
The grinder as you know makes the difference at this level.
