CA or British Airways?

Postby AbstractPoetic » April 20th, 2010, 10:50 am

Any reviews on either for flights from POS to London-Gatwick? Preferably looking for nonstop flights in First or Business class.

I tried booking with CA but there appears to be some glitch on their system. I'm not even sure if they still fly there :?. Also are there other airlines that fly non-stop from POS to London?

I traveled with BA to Gatwick on World Traveler Class already and will not do it again.

They actually make one stop either in ST Lucia or Antigua. I honestly find service was terrible and meals were not on time and i find there was not enough legroom...

Next time i going with Virgin

BA is better, not sure how frequently they fly directly to POS though... they usually have a stop in BGI.

I dont think Virgin flies to POS directly. They stop in BGI and you connect with CA there. I could be wrong though. When i travelling from EU to TT i usually pass thru the US...

BA flights if not changed now are on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday

you can get a Virgin Flight from Gatwick to Tobago, and CA wil bring you to Trinidad..BA flights still continue to Trinidad from Gatwick every wk, it's supposed to be a direct service since March 27th.

Thanks so much, folks. I think I'm going to go with Virgin Atlantic. They have an open bar on board and even offer complimentary chauffeur service upon arrival!

Dudes,
Virgin is top of line to travel with. Only problem is that they fly out of crown pt, which is non-stop to Gatwick. On the way back they stop in Grenada. Its easy to book just go line and and book ur ticket and u are given the choose to pick ur seat and meals.

virgin option would have been nice if it were from trinidad...

BA is good.....they leave Trinidad and make one stop in Vieux Fort for about an hour...
flew first class with them..service was excellent.

CA and BA codeshare, afaik there's no CA plane to Gatwick - I use BA love them, i've found everytime i look for a Virgin flight it's always much higher..

True, it would be nice but Tobago is a stones throw away and its better than flying from Barbados. Only thing is they have much more limited service from Tobago.

Thanks Sumana. CA's website actually still lists London-Gatwick as an arrival option. *sigh*

Yeah, Virgin is very expensive.

BA first class to UK is very sweet. Lots of room around you, with large reclining chairs and your own LCD screen. Play your own movies. Nice food and drinks. Service was best!

Flew with BA a couple times to Gatwick, stopped in St Lucia for about an hour as White CZ4A said, had no problems with the service.

I tried to book with Monarch, but they dont accept tickets from Tobago-LGW, only LGW-TB-LGW.
XL did not really did not go bust, BA (BA owns XL) just pull the plug on them for the POS run only

very sweet..
I thought the price was high @ $6,000USD+ per ticket with BA...

but then I went on Virgin's site and saw prices ranging in the $12,000-$13,000USD range..

thing is though..BA's aircraft are old ones that were modified to incorporate the club world/First class...

Virgin's first class from what I heard (people who traveled first class on both BA and Virgin)..is totally different with proper lounges etc

Actually they drop off in Tobago first, then go onto Grenada, pick up there, return to Tobago and pick up there and then fly directly to Gatwick. Its a great flight, did it last year with my 3 boys, absolutely no complaints. Have also done Virgin from Barbados to Manchester which was also good, just the inconvenience of having to travel to BGI. They cancelled our return flight to BGI and put us up in a hotel, paid for meals, got us on an alternate airline to come down to BGI AND paid for the change of CA ticket to get us back to Trinidad. Also gave us points including the children which went onto my account thus giving us enough points for one free ticket back to England. Not bad really.
