Normally, traffic tickets can be amended if the vehicle number is incorrectly stated, or the place where the offence occurred. Any fact which does not affect the truthfulness of the offence committed can be amended. However, the particulars of an offence cannot be changed.

Any information contained in a charge (summary or indictable) can be amended, this just shows the ineptness and lack of knowledge of persons in higher authority. IMHO this was just a way for this magistrate to try to belittle the police due to some personal grievance, a minor error like leaving out 'out' especially when the defendant admits guilt should be any reason to dismiss any matter. The next thing will happen is that when criminals get arrested they'll call their English teacher to check spelling before calling a lawyer.

This goes to show that police officers are very offensive & hasty to charge you & they can't even write a proper ticket to the offender. I wonder what is the criteria for becoming a police officer...maybe (3) O' Levels??

That right there is an openended invitation to encourage bribery, corruption, abuse of power and arrogance on the part of police!

New Zealand Police have excellent command of the English language!

Meanwhile on our island, it's painful to hear a high ranking Police official speak. And much worse to see how and what they write in their reports.
