Looking at upgrading to the OnePlus 10 Pro from the 7t Pro. Really like the 7t but battery is starting to slow down and charging port is slack. Do y'all recommend the US or International version? Main advantage of international would be dual sim I guess. No experience with that. How user friendly is switching between sims

You can easily use eSIM on most phones these days. Don't need a physical SIM slot, you can buy a plan and enter the code. I use one when I go Europe

Anyone ever used the pixel slate? How is it?

Lag is an issue for me, can't stand it. I need something with a decent cam to be outside with. May have to withstand drizzle and dust.

Need to run Google docs and sheets.

Thinking about the slate as it can double as a laptop.

Open to suggestions here but I'm only contemplating it.

so it's definitely a blurry, messed up pic

but I'd never thought I'd be able to see Saturn's rings with a smartphone (1.3 billion miles away)

Yup
Megapixels don't matter much anymore in phone cameras - it's all about software now

https://sparrowsnews.com/2023/11/28/oneplus-12-camera-samples-and-modules/amp/

After being with one plus phone left them after the 7 when i think they lost their way
Went hauwei mate 20x
After using this mate 20x screen i cant use any phone with 6.7" screen or smaller now lol

But this oneplus 12 something about it i may be going back to them as the phone thus far ticks the boxes of stuff i want in a overall phone

24gb ram 1tb storage may be overkill but i don't buy the "next best ting" every year like most peeps... My current phone is 6 years and needs a replacement (buttons not working, screen burn in, battery warnings etc)

Had to remap other buttons to function normal for the while*

Was considering the xiaomi 14 pro titanium or the s23 ultra...

Google is basically using Samsung features and pushing them into the Android official releases. Samsung had Offline Find a while now in their Find My Mobile embedded app.

Another one Google was working on was Nearby Share, which was always known as Quick Share on Samsung. Google development finished the project and renamed it Quick Share then pushed it into Android 13.

The Samsung S series features and environment are pretty good though. Very compatible apps with Windows compared to regular AOSP.

the difference is that any Android phone would be able to be located with any other Android phone so u now have access to a much bigger network than just samsung phones.

Supposed to launch by Monday and apparently all Android phones will automatically be a part of it unless u opt out. Hopefully this limits phone thieves from now on.

Not deterring anybody, you could tell the police exactly where your stolen phone is and they wouldn't care.

Unless your father is the minister of finance of course.

^ Little do they know nobody cared about the phone and whoever have it still have it, phone was never retrieved.

But anyway the word is find my device and phone location recovery isn’t deemed an important event by itself, so unless men going for it themselves then tough scenes anyway in Trinidad

So if they tief a whole set of other stuff and tracking the phone also means tracking down all the other stuff. Or if it was part of a forced home invasion ?

https://blog.google/products/android/android-find-my-device/

The new Find My Device experience helps you easily find your misplaced Android devices and other belongings.

Today, the all-new Find My Device is rolling out to Android devices around the world, starting in the U.S. and Canada. With a new, crowdsourced network of over a billion Android devices, Find My Device can help you find your misplaced Android devices and everyday items quickly and securely. Here are five ways you can try it out.

1. Locate offline devices
Locate your compatible Android phone and tablet by ringing them or viewing their location on a map in the app — even when they’re offline. And thanks to specialized Pixel hardware, Pixel 8 and 8 Pro owners will also be able to find their devices if they’re powered off or the battery is dead.

2. Keep track of everyday items with compatible Bluetooth tags
Starting in May, you’ll be able to locate everyday items like your keys, wallet or luggage with Bluetooth tracker tags from Chipolo and Pebblebee in the Find My Device app. These tags, built specifically for the Find My Device network, will be compatible with unknown tracker alerts across Android and iOS to help protect you from unwanted tracking. Keep an eye out later this year for additional Bluetooth tags from eufy, Jio, Motorola and more.

3. Find nearby items
Sometimes what we’re looking for is right under our noses. If you're close to your lost device but need a little extra help tracking it down, a “Find nearby” button will appear to help you figure out exactly where it’s hiding. You’ll also be able to use this to find everyday items, like your wallet or keys, when Bluetooth tags launch in May.

4. Pinpoint devices at home with Nest
More often than not, we lose everyday items like our keys or phone right at home. So the Find My Device app now shows a lost device’s proximity to your home Nest devices, giving you an easy reference point.

5. Share accessories with friends and family
Share an accessory so everyone can keep an eye on it in the app. For instance, share your house key with your roommate, the TV remote with your friend or luggage with a travel buddy so you can easily divide and conquer if something goes missing.

Find My Device is secure by default and private by design. Multi-layered protections built into the Find My Device network help keep you safe and your personal information private, while keeping you in control of the devices connected to the Find My Device network. This includes end-to-end encryption of location data as well as aggregated device location reporting, a first-of-its-kind safety feature that provides additional protection against unwanted tracking back to a home or private location. Read more about how our multi-layered protections for the Find My Device network work.

The new Find My Device works with devices running Android 9+. Learn more about Find My Device-compatible devices and all the ways the Find My Device network can help you find a lost device or item. And look out for software updates coming to headphones from JBL, Sony and others, which will join the Find My Device network soon.
