Real sad and disturbing pictures.

The Haitian people are an enduring people after all the disasters and turmoil they continuously face. Haiti needs help from Caricom, not Air Jamiaca and other projects. If Caricom wants to make a difference in the world...help build Haiti up from scratch.

If Caricom wants to make in difference in the world...help build Haiti up from scratch.

so true but sadly the human race is dead, we should now be classifed as an entire new species, the Homo economis

after all it seems that no longer is humanity driven by ideals of compassion, morals and even the basic necessisty to survive, we are all pawns in a world in which the sole purpose of existance is to make economic gains, that is why corporations will always take precidence over human suffering, after all what profit is there to be gained from the alivation of human suffering???

this is sad though.

Caricom is made up of Island & South American states who are still unable to help their own citizens. moreso Hati.

Our societies are decades behind the developed nations.

There are currently collections drives on, there's currenlty one in Woodbrook, can't remember the exact address.

Possibly we could desiginate reputable turners at various points in the country to be sub-collectors who will then deposit to the main points.

This will make it easier for tuners who can't get to the collection points because it's too far or their hours of work, they can drop off items at different points in North, South, Central, East & West.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the post Patch, always good relevant stuff coming from you.

My prays are with the people of Haiti.

My close friend's family runs Churches and Schools back in Port-Au-Prince.

It just so happened that her sister and other relatives flew in last week to check up on the progress to date for the year. They were in the process of hiring new teachers etc for the new academic year and now this happened.

Her eldest sister has been found this morning. However her two aunts and some others who went over still are missing :(

The ONLY great news to be reported:

The Airport is Functional and steps are being taken to get it up and running to get the necessary machinery/aid in to help with the situation. There is electricity, the Tarmac is in good condition and the tower is operational.

CNN correspondent Anderson Cooper said although the airport and air traffic controllers are functioning, they are inadequate and potentially inexperienced. He flew in via helicopter and almost collided with another aircraft while giving an aerial report on the widespread destruction.

Anderson Cooper on twitter:

10:11 a.m. -- Air traffic control "is very dicey," says CNN's Anderson Cooper. While flying over Haiti, his helicopter had to make last-minute maneuver to avoid hitting another aircraft.

10:07 a.m. -- "It's incredibly shocking," says Anderson Cooper.

The disparity between rich Haitians and Poor Haitians is SOOOO huge, makes anything in Jamaica or Nicaragua look like a joke.

Uptown Haitians live like  It's a different level of luxury.

I appreciate it. She herself is not knowing everything. Her family is from Boston(majority of Haitians outside of North Miami live there in the States) She's in D.C.
