Breaking News: Umaga Passes Away

Image
We can now unfortunately confirm that former WWE star Umaga (Eddie Fatu) has passed away. According to a source, he suffered a second heart attack while in the hospital. He was 36.

Details are sketchy at this point but he apparently fell asleep last night while watching television, and several hours later, his wife found him not breathing with blood coming out of his nose and he was rushed to the hospital.

The suspicion on cause of death is prescription pills, as Umaga was reportedly found bleeding from his nose and mouth when found by his wife. We obviously can't confirm that yet until toxicology reports come back in several weeks.

We're told his family was told to get into town and to the hospital right away. Family members were told they believe he suffered a heart attack. He was taken off life support earlier today.

WWE will be issuing a statement later today or this weekend.

Umaga was released from his WWE contract in June after failing WWE's Wellness Policy for the second time. At that time, he refused the company's wishes to send him to rehab. So sad. He was on the Hulkamania Tour in Australia that just concluded last weekend.

As noted earlier, several wrestlers have posted messages on Twitter regarding the death of former WWE superstar Eddie "Umaga" Fatu. Here's what some of them are saying:

Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson: "Say a prayer for my boy Umaga"

D'Angelo Dinero / Elijah Burke
: "Pope was informed many hours ago of my friend Umaga. Pope will not comment until the family speaks, neither should you. Prayer is key! ~ PHS"

Bobby Lashley: "Very sad day today. A good friend is gone."

WWE released the following statement regarding Fatu's passing:

WWE would like to express its deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu’s family, friends and fans on his tragic passing. Mr. Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name "Umaga." Mr. Fatu's contract was terminated on June 11, 2009.

Horrible idea mixing the death of Umaga with the fight between kimbo and Houston, but, RIP to Umaga, I didn't even realize until now that Rikishi is his brother(I can see the resemblance too ae). I hope Umaga rests in peace.

As for kimbo/houston, wow! Great improvement on Kimbo's ground game man, I have NO idea why Houston played that safe sheit. Tried to wear kimbo and his knee down, but lost, kimbo looks good though, ATT has been training him well and once he stays humble with it, he should be great. He should have started MMA in his early days, but I guess he may not have had a chance, who knows.

I ddint think Kimbo would win . I thought for sure he woulda run outta gas if it went more then 1 1/2 rounds . But they didnt really do anything cept the circle dance .
Kimbo is 35 its a lil too late for him me thinks . He started to late . The cardio levels needed he cant attain them .
Best part of watching that was 1/2 way thru , they were clenched up and Kimbo got in a loud , you could here it contact , upwards right hand body shop . Guy looked like he was gonna toss his lunch right on Kimbo shoulder haha ..77.

^I saw the one with the eye. The guy is a fighter , but a family man from what I understand. Outside of the ring there's no animosity, no violence, in the fight he's going to throw down, I don't have a problem with that at all ae. Same thing I was saying too, if Kimbo had started MMA back when he was in his street fighting prime, he'd have been a real sight for MMA man, but he's humble in the sense that he realizes that MMA is a whole new world and that he lacks a lot and I give the guy props for that as well, if he stays humble and keeps training with the American Top Team, he should be alright at least for a few more fights.

The fight didnt live up to the hype, but I was quite surprised on Kimbo's "improved" ground game

His throws and working for submissions seem to be improving. If ATT can mold him (which Xtreme Couture could not do) then Kimbo maybe might be a good fit in the heavyweight division

Houston's constant circling was quie annoying but if he had followed up on Kimbo on the ground (when his low kick found its mark) he could have finished it right there

Anyhow, looking forward to Kimbo's next opponent

Houston did sheit, but he said that he wouldn't bang with Kimbo before the fight anyway. Said how his coaches had a "game plan" and all that BS, what a fag. He was circling to wear out Kimbo's already worn out knee and hoping Kimbo would rush in and throw a bad punch or just wear himself out so he could beat kimbo on sheer fatigue. he got a loss for it.

Virus, Houston Alexander is not that good. But this was Kimbo's first official match, and he did pretty good. Both camps promised the world a show and it was a great performance on Kimbo's ground and pound. Houston obviously talked about that technical game he would bring (and it worked), Kimbo pyramid upside down, damaged knee or not, his legs like butter cuz he's a unprof. boxer. Kimbo have a long way to go, dat n***a cud hit and more importantly he cud rel take. I wish him all the best, I following this man MMA career with high hopes.

on another note...

fat boy won the UFC contract after all.

better technical game than the others...

Kimbo realized he not cut out for the game at this level (knees not as good as before) - but he draws a crowd for UFC.

so he is still a "cash cow" - hope he uses the system wisely

Hate two of them actually, both cocky beyond cockeyness but i'm actually backing Penn, Diego sanchez is a douche-fag but somehow he always seeems to win.
Was pretty happy when GSP kicked the $hit outta Penn.

But there goona be some really good fights besides Penn; Lightweights Kenny Florian vs that wild hair dude who looks like Puyol and Frank Mir vs Cheik Congo( thats gonna be a good a$$ heavy weight matchup)
My predictions, Penn, Florian and Mir with submission

^BJ's training improved a great deal after his loss to GSP though. GSP was laughing at BJ after the loss, more so disturbed and annoyed by BJ's corner throwing in the towel than anything else. You know you need to tone it down with GSP hates you lmao, but BJ's camp has taken it up a notch, now I don't think he can fight GSP again as yet, but against Sanchez? Yeah, definite win and Sanchez is a cocky guy.

I don't like Cheik Kongo either for some reason. Guy doesn't seem that skillful to me is all =( and well Mir has to show that he can properly come back, it's always been a mind game with that freakin guy. Florion is going to win I think for sure and Jon Fitch should win his fight also.
