Had the opportunity back in Dec 2019 to hear the nakamichi 7.2 at best buy orlando. It sounded pretty impressive and I too am one to keep it simple ( plug, play, volume ). There were some other brands there too that sounded pretty decent but, you really need to hear them in person. Sonos was a good sounding setup as well I.m.o.
carluva wrote:If you insist, check out Nakamichi shockwafe and JBL 9.1 soundbar. Two stunning systems that have gotten fantastic reviews. Personally I haven't heard either but the reviews alone would justify a purchase not I was so inclined.

The nakamichi 9.2 is what I'm looking at right now...really glad someone here heard and can vouch for it.

Anyone with projector experience please let me know. Not being able to fly across the pond to see them personally sucks

Looking for some advice.

Was checking this out: https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a ... html#!more

The receiver is 7.2 so when I build up funds again I could get some nice floor -standing speakers for my left and right front channels.

Anyone ever purchased from a4l or tested this pack?

That looks like a great package
I've had the Klipsch Quintet SL for about 12 years now and they still sound great for a home-theatre setup. I always meant to get 2 more satellites to make the system 7.1 but never really saw the need for it. Any other upgrade would be to Atmos at this point.
You can't go wrong with Klipsch and Denon together for that US$700 price.

The idea to add the floor standers later on to the front and move your 4 satellites to the sides and back for 7.1 is a good idea but you will also want to upgrade your centre channel speaker when you do that depending on how they match up with your front stage.
For movies the center channel is probably the single most important speaker.

This looks like a great package as both the receiver and speakers are pretty decent (based on specifications at least). Some points to note from the website:

1. As listed on the description page "Sold exclusively within the US only. No shipments allowed outside the US!" I have never bought from this supplier nor heard of them until now. But given this disclaimer, I would wonder if their website will accept international credit cards and further, if they will ship to a freight forwarder... Unless you are in the US in which case, this is a non-issue.

2. On the "item condition" tab of the website, it is stated that this package is "Denon Factory Refurbished, JBL/Klipsch Open Box". This explains why the price is so significantly reduced. You will have to decide if you are willing to take the plunge into refurbished/slightly worn items.

Looking to buy a some Sonos items, possible a Sonos Five or a Sonos One with a Sub.

My Logitech Z623 connected to an Echo Dot 1st Gen has seen its days and needs replacing :D

Already have a Sonos Move so would like to add to the ecosystem.

Anyone know there are local resellers? Not feeling to go through the hassle of shipping and duty nightmare.

Been a while Ive posted on tuner fellas but I'm looking for recommendations for an audio repair tech,

Issue and forgive me if this is not the right forum but I have a pair of EV Force i25 speakers, placed in storage for quite some time due to a blown diaphragm on one of the tweeters and the replacement was done, simple plug and play. Worked fine for a couple days and then randomly blew once again.

Problem is isolated to that particular speaker as the other side in the pair works fine to this day. Reached out to the company that sold the replacement diaphragm and they suggested that it may be a problem with a crossover or a bad amp output out of the QSC 2450.

Out of my depth here so any assistance would be appreciated.

Has anyone ventured into full open baffle systems for home ie. both for mids and bass ?
For the covid I built a copy of the manzanita's which is a proven documented design on diyaudio.
Where this system shines is in the reproduction of songs with acoustical content.
The sweet spot is wide and the soundstage has depth in my listening area.
Pink Floyd Dark Side of the moon is lovely to listen to on this setup.

Rock music is bit a challenge for the manzanita, however I believe that open baffle designs such as
the LX521.4 designed by Siegfried Linkwitz get around this by using a dedicated 8" midbass driver.

Built a pair of these open baffle speakers a couple years ago.

Dayton full range 8", and GRS 12" open baffle subs. 1.5" MDF Baffle for the bass with pine baffle for the 8" FR

The sound was fantastic. Very detailed sound stage, natural sounding vocals and intstruments. The bass was articulate and true. Listeners to the system ranked them the best sound they ever heard. The realism was out of this world.

I used them in a bi-amp config. NAD 326BEE for the 8" and Behringer 1500 W for the 12" subs. The processing was done with a JL Audio TWK 88 and the source was a Yamaha WXC-50. I have a vast Hi Res collection.

I must say that I thouroughly enjoyed the sound. The music really pulled you into a completely different understanding. I scrapped the system to reconfigure the speakers. The cause being the complication of the final solution. Too much equipment. The subs required alot of power and alot of tuning to get it to sound just right.

Thinking about a configuration comprising a dipole sub, open baffle mid/midbass and air motion transformer tweeter. Still putting some thoughts together though.

I followed the plan for the Ultra version of the manzanita, and used the passive crossover, it might be cheaper to go active but I only have a two channel stereo amplifier being fed from my computer. Going active will also give you a better dynamic range.

That looks pretty good, the downsides I saw is the size and that the speakers need to be at least 3 feet away from the front wall, however when you have them position just right, you definitely can tell.

The dipole idea is not bad, I see the there is a guy who can design ripoles for you once you supply the t/s parameters to him. You can also probably match your open baffle mids to a tline sub - that should be a good compromise or use 18" GW1858 H Frames :)

I had a monoblock running an 8 inch sub, I tested it and it did around 63 watts RMS which is pretty good for the footprint. My PSU was the original 19.5 volt that came with the amp.

yeah, they are pretty good, once you match the 4ohm or some high sensitivity 8ohm speakers they are pretty decent
shitty thing there isnt much of a choice in terms of speaker choice--only those pro audio loudspeakers and the other end of the scale--studio z, sound barrier etc

looking at the column type line array set up---8-3 inch, a planar tweeter and a 12 per side
but i will wait till i am going fl or so next year to get the stuff

to ship in some decent dayton, peerless, hivi etc is too costly for the value

getting a pair of silver flute 8s for cheap, but by the time its landed, it will cost around 1000TT

Anyone know where I can get a male and female for this plug? Basically trying to use as an extension as the current wire isnt long enough. It's from a Sony 5.1 system

I was thinking about getting 3 of the 2 channels and doing an active 3 way but still undecided

That sounds like a sick setup you're planning. Dayton has some high excursion neo 3s and 4s they are pretty good and midbass response is supposed to be good for a smaller driver.

You have a mount?
It's not difficult to do yourself.

if it's a concrete wall and you have a hammer drill it's easy peasy.

Hammer drill is the main issue . If you have a reguLar drill you have to stop every so often and pound into the hole you are creating with a concrete nail for progress . Most mounts come with a built in level so that’s the only other thing you have to ensure you have

I also would like to do the same with a curve 65 inch I don't want to handle the tv as not to pinch the screen , are there special mounts for tvs like these?

Check the pattern behind but they are standardized templates for all mounts .

Yes mounts are standardized and usually come with holes and screws to suit all TV's.
Pricesmart and most computer stores have TV mounts.
Just make sure the mount is suited for your size of TV.
