That unit is really a classic. It's sought after by collectors all over the world.

i like what i like...
What's your preference with regards to hifi?... I like NAD.

The older stuff like the vintage Kenwood's, Sansui etc all seem to have more power. But for me tubes are the best.

I have a 7 watt tube stereo open ended amp that sounds amazing.

me? none. i jess like how the silver sharp stereo used to LOOK... jess the look. for music, i prefer the raj dj set in the garage.

but i do want to try my hands at a stereo set that will give 70% audiophile quality. like clean, clear, accurate, but not using the best of the best parts... good enough for the price.

an experiment i wanted to try was to get a low power tube amp from ebay or parts express, and have that act as a sort of processor, and convert the output to a preamp signal to send to conventional amps.
the idea is, to get the nuances of the tube amp, but the power and economy of normal amps.
i see a lot of audiphiles use crown amps. so that means its possible to get normal amps, that can reproduce the waveforms from a tube amp.

Yea these really needs a device with a preamp section that can put out 1.4VRms+ to maximize the amplifier.

The newer version was corrected with an input sensitivity selection switch.

Anywhere sells any home theatre in a box systems locally . Low to medium budget. Onkyo I’ve had over the last ten yes but a second one just died and I don’t think pricesmart sells any more . Otherwise it would be great to know where services them . It has a classic heating issue I believe . Will decide later if I’m selling the old speakers

CET in Barataria.

Both service and sales. If you suspect it's heat then it's likely an electrolytic capacitor swollen or leaking. Very easy to find with a multimeter and simple observation of the board and replace even if you don't have experience. Yeah they don't tell you that your home theater system needs more active cooling while in use.

bai they always out of stock, they had some el cheapo JBL 5.1 at an okay price but you still need a receiver for that, which they never have.
(was $3500 I think for a 5.1 speaker set, sub is powered, satellites aren't)

And as for servicing, ehhhh, I can get you the contact for the thirdparty service tech they'll send it to anyhow

Try Streamline as well , they are the dealers for Klipsch. Saw it on a billboard right by Aranguez flyover.

Dropped off my HK for repairs, if it not feasible I told the guy not to fight up.

Meanwhile I was looking at a replacement, anyone has experience with tube amps? I have been eyeing the dayton audio hta 100 bt

https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/168 ... b-out-100w

looks easy on the eye, anyone using this?

Okay, tekkies. Help needed.

I have an LG stereo system which feeds into my Bluetooth laptop. Well, it used to.

My laptop connects to the stereo with Bluetooth but no sound comes through.

It used to say "connected, voice, music" and it would play.

Now it just says "connected", the LG stereo would come on, but no music comes through.

I have tried everything including deleting and re-installing the stereo bluetooth to my laptop but nothing.

Any ideas?

Check under sound in laptop and make sure audio output set to the LG Bluetooth speakers

The system will say connected but if primary output not set to the LG stereo wouldn't play

This isn't a tube amp eh, it's an A/B amp with a tube preamp, just a heads up

But dayton known for quality audio/build quality at an affordable price. I say go thru and let us know

Looks like a great all in one head unit receiver.

Sound bars are nice simple room filler sound makers.
I did a Yamaha years ago and while not audiophile quality it is quite clean paired with a Pioneer Andrew Jones sub.

Soundbars have come a long way yes

Back when this thread started I would have said the only way to have a home theater was with a component 5.1 or 7.2 setup

But now soundbars, particularly ones with subwoofers sound really great, are much simpler to set up and use and many are THX and Dolby certified.

They also take away the drama of having to turn on and control an audio receiver etc that come with a component system.

Soundbars like Sonos have smart home features like whole house audio and work with Alexa etc.
