You cannot go into the embassy with
Your wallet, hand bag etc
Cell phone or smart watch

Your folder needs to be clear..
No brown, white or non transparent folders

You are allowed to line up from 15mins before your appointment time.
E.g) if your appt time is 1030..you can line up from 1015
If your time is 1045 and u line up at 1015 they will ask you to leave and come back at 1030
It's a similar situation and restrictions at most of the US missions.

I recall it was the same for Canada Visa as well a few years ago.
All I walked with was a clear folder with all documents and pen inside.
It says all this on the website. The appointment time was strict as well. No congregating.

A regular analog watch was allowed after examined. Cell phone off and left with the guard at the entrance scanner.

It's standard procedure. No electronics to record anything. Trinidad isn't getting "Banana Republic treatment."

Parents are also allowed to accompany their kids but whilst no wallet you should have a form of ID on you and if you walk around with chapstick they will make you use it lol.

I take it that your car keyfob is allowed and passport should suffice as a form of ID?

Went earlier this week for visa interview. Hopefully they are consistent but on that day I observed:
1) No wallets/purses but didn't make anyone take off their belts or car key-fobs
2) No battery operated electronic devices eg. cell phones/smart watch
3) Allowed me to take in a small umbrella after inspection

Filled out application March 31
Paid April 04
Courier documents 18 May
Documents returned June 06

Despite the wait it was a really painless process.

U can carry your keys and keyfob and wallet. No cellphones.
On the corner you can pay for a locker to leave your cellphone.

There are paid car parks and parking on the street on certain sides depending on the day.

I used here the last time I visited the Embassy...think it was $20 per hour and I only spent like 30mins in the Embassy.
I would have chanced parking around the QPS but was coming off a ticket for parking on the SMR a few weeks before and wasn't in the mood to even risk something.

For first time visa applicants, how long the whole process will take?

Just be honest, they already know everything.

Do you have any relatives who have overstayed or are overstaying currently in the US?
