WTK HTC DREAM

Postby psykiddo » October 1st, 2009, 2:00 pm

been looking for a good touchscreen phone with a keyboard, and it seems all the high spec ones are windows mobile. so i'm looking at the HTC Dream now. it runs on android os and has descent hardware specs.

so anyone ever used it? wanna know how the feel of it is and is it durable etc. 'cause it doesn't look as sturdy as the touchpro 2 or other phones.

this is the phone:

ok thanks for the info. the dream however has a slide out keyboard, it was one of the first android phones out there. so i'm thinking it should be large enough

The HTC dream is also called the TMobile G1. I own one and it works great, alot of free apps that u can download off of their apps market, the only problem is that the bluetooth only connects to your wireless head set, it's fully customisable....in other words it can do alot of really cool sheit

My GF was looking at one but was unsure about the bluetooth with regards to being able to link to my cars bluetooth...know if that works ok?

well i don't see that being an issue since the bluetooth is controlled by the os, and if there are bugs, since android is an open source OS, there will be lots of support for it. the new cupcake version should work good.

I have a friend with this and its totaly awesome. Its a perfect phone, as far as sturdiness it pretty much the same as the touch pro 2.

The interface is really smooth and the animations are similar to the iphone.

He choose it becasue of how the os is integrated with google's services. The possibilities of tweaking this os are endless just like windows mobile.

^^ actually the tweaking would be better than windows mobile since everything is open source. lots of mods with the android os. only wish the touch pro2 came with android. that has some descent hardware specs and a large screen.

i was also wondering how the piece on the right side would affect you typing on the keyboard when it slides. shouldn't be an issue since i never heard anyone complain about it.

and kool, i guess this is my xmas gift then :D
