Some people think over seasoned burnt steaks taste good, I think it's horrid unless done medium and bloody, others say sushi taste horrid, I love it.

the yellow and black fish is a common barred grunt Conodon nobilis ( official name ), tasty lil things but you need a good few to fry.

The picture i attached below is a cro cro ( which is in the cooler to under the powa as well ), of which we have 2 species, the atlantic croaker and the white mouth croaker, they can go from silver to yellow to brown depending on diet but the white mouth croaker will always have white lips and mouth. Both good eating. not to be mistaken for the gulf or king whiting which looks very similar but has a lil beard/barbel under it's mouth, also good eating.

Powa/power is the atlantic spadefish, not too good eating imo

Thanks for this info

Agreed on the crocro (silver one)
thats what i know as cro cro

The grunt really is a nice eat....had a feeling it was either a grunt or some type of snapper

Makes good broth too.

Never had the powa before...so will try

I have 3
1 for broth
1 for a fry
1 for a bake

I go see how it go

I know it as grunt, especially from the grunting noise it makes when caught. Fisheries document saying cro cro.

Good eat anyway.

I know we have the fat snook and the common snook here, caught them both but not seen any others but probably are out there but not seen the tarpon snook here yet, tho I meant to say fisheries place snook as tarpon many times.

Mahi aren't grouper or sharks, they're literally rabbits of the sea. A 4-5 year old fish is an 80lb class specimen while a 6 year old goliath grouper is just reaching sexual maturity so do the math. A 5 month fish is around 3 ft and sexually mature which can spawn multiple times in a single season.

It technically is, and the residents even put up a sign recently after guys started going there to smoke weed and fish.
