Wouldn't surprise me one bit if this really pans out that way.

they should do it to show how absurd our legal system is. it was probably fine a century ago, but it is highly moronic now.
we need a trinidad 2.1 version... beta tested too.

NINE of the men who were freed of the kidnapping and murder of businesswoman Vindra Niapaul-Coolman, were on Monday each awarded in excess of $2 million by the courts for malicious prosecution.

The order for payment was made by Master Martha Alexander after the State failed to file a defence in the claim.

Successful in their claim were Shervon Peters, Devon Peters, Anthony Gloster, Joel Fraser, Ronald Armstrong, Keida Garcia, Jameel Garcia, Marlon Trimmingham and Antonio Charles.

Master Alexander order that they each receive the sum of $2 million for malicious prosecution, examplary damages of $100,000 each and prescribed cost in the sum of $200,917.56 each.

All nine were found not guilty in 2016 before then-High Court Justice Malcolm Holdip.

yep. Trinidad too sweet. $2M state reward for murder.
Reading the thread over, this case was of one of the laziest and stupidest pieces of police investigation and state prosecution work in Trinidad history.

A lead detective with a bad memory, an extra-marital affair between investigators, a corrupt police officer and a suspicious husband were just some of the controversial issues raised by High Court Judge Malcolm Holdip to the jury in the Vindra Naipaul-Coolman murder trial yesterday.

Now reading some backstories here. Gloster was killed last year. Does the award go to next of kin?

Do something to benefit your country and your grand children, go and give the dpp the evidence you have and take the stand.

The State did not challenge their lawsuit and they received a default judgement.

Anand and Co responsible for the state failing to do their part on such a high profile case.

Yea boy, Anand gather the evidence and take it to the dpp, then he appoint himself to act as dpp and charge the men. Then, he made sure the conditions in the prison were terrible. Then he put in a section 34 clause that stop the state from defending the case.

And you know who ultimately responsible for Anand, KAMLA.

Look wing, I save you a post.
