The sad thing is I foresee the same faith for the 9 accused of killing Dana seethal. Another high profile case that the state will drop the ball on and millions in compensation.

Imagine you're better off in this country as a gang affiliated murderer than a desk jobbing schmuck in a licensing roadblock.

An acquaintance of mine was intimately involved in this case at the courts. The person said-

-There was never a case - the police appeared to have randomly picked up a bunch of people, some with records, hoping that something stuck. Nothing did.

- one guy was picked up coming home from football practice, he stopped and asked the police, aye what allyuh holding my partner for? Police say hold him too, put him with the rest of them.

- Some of the witnesses who were police officers, themselves had pending cases in the courts, some for planting evidence.

- the infamous pool table where the body was supposed to have been dismembered had no trace of blood anywhere. Not a drop anywhere at the location.

- One of the techniques used to force the "confession" from the guy with epilepsy was to tempt him with a naked female officer parading around him. They also refused to allow him access his meds.

- the victim's husband was never called to give evidence.

AG implying possible collaboration between the defense team and someone in the Solicitor general department....ie the case file went missing one day after it was received by the SG office.

Stink pests.

They kidnapped this woman, beat her, raped, murdered and dismembered her and now happy like pappy.

I am sure they will be looking to flee the country.

these "muslims" give the religion a real bad name,
what I also find appalling is the other law abiding members of the religion are silent on these gangs who use the name conveniently

The squabbling between the AG and SG office to throw the blame to the other party will lead to nothing. No one will know how the file went missing and we go forget about this by the next carnival fete.

Meanwhile, the DPP Gasp Hard, who prosecuted this case even though the evidence did not support it, does not have to answer for anything. Remember this is the same DPP who has never filed any charges in the CLICO scandal because he still reviewing the file. His status quo is to do nothing and when he gets off his ass and does something, it results in debacle like this. If course the police and their inability to investigate and build a case are a major factor as well. But yet people think we can just hire a commissioner of police and all these underlying issues will just go away? Lots of broken parts in the entire justice system need to be addressed if we as a country are serious about stopping crime.

Could be coercion rather than willing participant. Considering the high stakes and the parties involved....its nothing to threaten a paper pusher and say "yow...destroy this file or else your wife and children disappear "

^narrative already forming....

Apart from that- given that no one involved in the prosecution of the case had an iota of interest to follow up on the proceedings beyond the paper pushing is shameful.

No, the documents just appeared magically, they weren't on a computer first and then printed

Too much time has passed.

This investigation will be no where and T&T already know what would be the outcome.

Max,

Question....how come when kamla was in power something of this nature was seen as waste of taxpayers dollars and was frown upon and turned into a scandal, yet when PNM does the same or it happens under their administration, we give them a free pass

Jason,

And what was the outcome of the scandal?

What is the outcome of any scandal?

Your question has been answered with your answer.

Free passes for all once you are in politics.

The high court process dealing with matters of this nature includes direct communication of dates and deadlines on a continuous basis to both sides.
The loss or misplacement of file(s) is nothing new and attorneys regularly seek the courts approvals for extensions etc. to mount a proper defence as may be required.
To not represent the interests of the state and by extension the citizens is abhorrent, SC Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj former AG in his assessment of the situation seems to be very correct.
The focus on lost files which could in the most part been reconstructed from court records of the substantive matter is frivolous and can only be considered a distraction from issues of dereliction of duty.

Damn you’re absolutely right.

Innocent until proven guilty yeh?

If your female relative gets interfered with, and the justice system releases them free and giggling, i hope you offer to pay for their false imprisonment.
