Install a check valve on the intake of the pump to store water in the line when it is off.

Thx. I was wondering if 90 degree elbows on either side of the pump in the shape of a "U" will trap the water.

That will not be enough water to start the pump back up.
You need a good bit of water stored in the line for it to be primed.

Too much to read through, but do you guys regulate temps of water? A guy was pointing out to me that he regulates the temp of his water

Depends on the location of the tank & the species you keep. i regulate mine for my Discus.
Good to have a thermometer on the tank to make sure that the temp is tolerable for the type of fish you keep.

Regular glass heaters work fine. You can find them at most local fish stores.

Got an aquarium with slump any advice on set up it from qpsl still in box. Think I want to go salt water but looking at cost.
I assume that fresh water system may be the more economical way to go
Thanks

Fellas any tips for dealing with dropsy?
20gal freshwater tank, established 6 months afk

Lost a couple fish over the past two weeks and noticing a couple others showing early signs.

Population right now is
10 guppies, a couple female bettas, a couple danios.

Tank cycled, have a couple sponge filters, basically double for this size tank, plus an airstone.

I do weekly water changes and gravel vaccuming of about 25% (usually every 7-10 days)

Water is quite clean and I think the bioload is normal.

I use aquarium salt as part of norm water changes.

Fishes are fed flakes, bloodworms and pellets.

I also use the Azoo line of products when needed. But I think I might need a different solution

I have a question... The normal drain fish in more or less a guppy but what species is the bigger approx 3 to 3.5 in fan tail ones?

They were plentyful in fast flowing drains and ravines.

You know ting boi,
Growing up in Woodbrook
When they were building the foreshore, we used to go down and catch fish in the big box drains they build
Would catch the odd killifish but the always jump out of tank and die.
Never did well in tank.

My father is from woodbrook as well, he told me about catching them in the drains, and crabbing in the mangroves/fishing down hot and cold by the complex. Called them seven colours I believe.
And yes they're jumpers, common name is the jumping guabine after all.
