Piarco airport closed?

Postby pablo_tt » August 15th, 2008, 8:02 am

I understand there is a disabled aircraft on the runway. I believe American Airlines (AA1818). Cannot move at all. Runway closed at the moment.

Any confirmation?

think yesterday had a report on CNN where the US aviation authority accused American Airlines of still flying planes that were not considered safe.

To me Caribbean Airlines standard good, cause ive flown with Caribbaen Airlines many times and never got any problems, ive also flown with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, South African Airways, and a few others, and compared to these airlines Caribbean Airlines aint no big airline and they damn good to compete... *my opinion*

sooo tk421, i'm totally lost with what experience you had...but ive never had a problem with Caribbean airlines..

1818 is just the flight number right? No relevance to the vehicle, crew or anything else right?
I don't catch.

Have some friends on the flight. It had taken off and half an hour into the flight they heard a loud noise and the pilot said they have to return to Piarco. He circled over the sea dumping fuel and then landed. They used the entire length of the runway to stop, and the emergency crews were hosing down only one side of the plane, despite the fact that the pilot told them that was standard proceedure. Right now the brakes are seized and it is stuck at the end of the runway!

Have to travel AA myself next week :skurry:

I am sorry for people who may miss their connecting flights. That could be a real pain.
