give it six months again nah and you will wish the bread was $11 and you will gladly pay the $11. in six months that bread might be $22-$30. so eat as much coconut bread as you want now and forget price because in the near future you might not be able to afford it or might not even get it.

Russia / Ukraine produces about 30% of global wheat supply.

Do the math.

Yeah a partner working at a distributor told me the same thing yesterday.

Ukraine is a large supplier of produce to the caribbean. Via Mexico.

Maybe not to you who shop at your so-called exlusive outlets like Massy stores and Anand Low Price.
But try arguing that with poverty sticken families struggling daily to feed their children!

The bigger question is:
What are we doing as a country for food sustainability?

Not one fudge.
They will eat oil and gas, and when that done they will eat all the money, because by then it will be worthless, and we won't have any food

We as a country? Pnm waiting for the first shoe to drop so we can beg uncle Sam for a handout. And with this war in Europe that may be sooner than some people think.

Oil prices on the way upwards, but so are most commodities, and they gonna keep climbing, so that don't mean that we could make enough money to continue the trend of "import everything"

The heading about the "blow back" is misleading though, when you read the article.

But brace for much higher prices as the year progresses.

US$10 toothpaste? U.S. household goods makers face blowback on price hikes
Jessica DiNapoli
Tue, March 1, 2022, 2:05 AM

Colgate-Palmolive Co CEO Noel Wallace said last week at an industry conference that the household goods maker sees its new Optic White Pro Series toothpaste as the type of premium product "vital" to its ability to raise prices, which will help drive profit growth this year.

A Colgate spokesperson said in a statement that the company has a wide portfolio of products at different price points, and touted its new $10 toothpaste as the first with 5% hydrogen peroxide, with "demonstrated efficacy to whiten teeth.”

Kimberly-Clark Corp's margins took a hit in 2021 due to rising costs. The maker of Huggies diapers is betting that consumers will buy pricier options made with plant-based material, helping its profits recover, executives said at last week's conference.

NFM: Brace for even higher flour prices
Wheat prices jump 52% in two weeks...

MAJORITY State-owned National Flour Mills (NFM) yesterday warned that it may be forced to increase the prices of flour again, following skyrocketing prices of wheat on the international markets as a result of the war in central Europe.
