My brother's electric chop saw fell down in knee deep water under the house and was there submerged for about an hour. It is a stanley brand

Flood get so high the deep freeze float up and fell over throwing over the chop saw and drill etc that he had resting ontop of it.

Are these items now destroyed?

Not yet, eh. This is just a warning. If we fail to pay heed, then when the rains really come, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

We did not really get any rain today. Just a bit more than usual for a bit longer than usual.

Reached home at tonight the PBR has more traffic than the highway.

Regarding the submerged tools. Often overlooked in Trinidad is that the bacteria in flood waters is very high, so in addition to cleaning with water then alcohol as a drying agent, there may still be some parts to change. Each tool should be cleaned and parts to change evaluated on the cost of a new item. If it were salt water it's much more complicated.

Outright one cannot say that they are no good but begin with proper cleaning and drying.

Edit: ODPM seems to be working overtime.

Say what yuh want, Shakes, all now so, Tantie Kams was outside looking out for people.

Where is the red and ready? Hinds and Imbert living pon hill, dem doh care.

Things are really, really bad out there and there is no leadership at this time.

Apart from some reports of the police trying to help some people in distress, the only "response" I seeing is letters and bulletins telling people to look out for bad weather, avoid flood prone areas and seek shelter and wait for the all clear from the authorities. As far as I am aware, no official shelters activated or anything.

ODPM is one big WOFT. Is to get rid of them and let the regional authorities manage their own affairs.

Anyways I hope the affected get relief and soon, this is the worst I've ever seen.

if motor dried out it likely to work once properly dry and no shorts
However water getting in the bearings is the long term issue as they will rust and be sticky which could burn the motor.
