All US beef prices are rising due to drought in Texas and surrounding beef producing states in previous years. Drought = No water + No grass. Farmers had to kill off their stock as they could not sell them. They are now in the process of trying to rebuild their livestock inventory.

Best steak - buy the whole strip-loin from PriceSmart, chill in the freezer till firm, not frozen, cut into 3/4 inch thick steaks, season and grill! cost is approx between $30 and $40 a steak. I prefer 3/4 vs. 1 inch as it cooks better and tens to be a juicier. Medium rare to medium gives the best results.

Economical food places in Trinidad

Postby crazybalhead » January 24th, 2012, 1:43 pm

These days is all kida $40 for a sandwich and madness. List the economical places you know of.

Doubles is one, still a decent deal, even at a horrifying $4 for one in POS.

The New Street bakery Between dundonald and Victoria avenue. Sandwiches at $9 and thing, pows, rolls etc. No frills.

The roti shop on Dundonald street, still has lunches for $25, if you eat there (also no frills) you get a real decent size meal. Plenty meat, a separate bowl ah dhal and thing.

Shay shay tien on Cipriani Boulevard, good portions, tasty food, smallish money. Service is ummmm "Trinidadian class." Prepare to be shouted at.

Pie men are around, but they too unreliable.

Any more? Doh have to be in town.

Preysal - Geera pork roti. (feel i going for one now yes) $25.

Wing on, food bess, price great.
Even Amin's in duncan village is a good deal. $20 meals. beef / potato / rice / salad.
