Trial dates set in Vybz Kartel murder cases
Embattled Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel will finally have his day in court as the prominent deejay prepares to stand trial in both of his ongoing murder cases
The internationally acclaimed entertainer, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, will appear in court on October 29 where he will stand trial in relation to the shooting death of St. Catherine based promoter Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton. Vybz Kartel faces three allegations in that case, including murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession for a firearm. The co-accused in that matter are Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald.
A week later, on November 5, Kartel will answer to accusations in another case as he prepares to stand trial in relation to the murder of St. Catherine-based dancer, Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
Co-accused of murder in the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams case include Shawn Campbell aka Shawn Storm, Calvin ‘Moonie' Haye, Shawn Williams, Kahira Jones ad Andre St. John aka Mad Suss.
Kartel’s long-time protégé, Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler and studio engineer, Andre ‘Pim Pim’ Henry, face obstruction of justice-related charges in the Williams case as they’re each accused of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
Vybz Kartel has been in police custody since last September, when he was arrested in a New Kingston hotel and charged with ganja possession. That charge has since been thrown out.
The self-professed ‘Worl’ Boss’ copped bail in the Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton murder case this past March but could not capitalize on it due to the fact that he’s been remanded in the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams matter.
Kartel’s lawyer, Valerie Neita-Robertson was expected to file a bail application in the Williams murder case but failed to do so after expressing dissatisfaction at the case being shifted to another judge.
However, Neita-Robertson hinted that she would apply for bail on behalf of her client sometime between the two trial dates.

Embattled Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel faces a third trial date within a two week span as the prominent deejay faces a mid-November court appearance regarding obstruction of justice related charges.
With his murder trials set to begin on October 29 and November 5 respectively, Kartel was ordered to appear in court in November 12 where he faces a charge of perverting the course of justice. The trial was initially set to begin on Wednesday inside the Corporate Area Resident Magistrates Court in Kingston, but got pushed back due to the absence of the presiding judge as well as the non-disclosure of statements to the defense.
Kartel’s long-time protégé, Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler and studio engineer, Andre ‘Pim Pim’ Henry are co-accused of perverting the court of justice in the matter. Both Saddler and Henry were granted bail extensions while Kartel was remanded into police custody.
Law enforcement officials slapped the charge on Kartel and his associates two months after Gaza Slim filed a police report at the Constant Spring Police Station, claiming that she had been robbed and gun-butted by Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in Havendale, St. Andrew. Gaza Slim filed the report on October 29, five days after Vybz Kartel copped a murder charge as he and three other men are accused of murdering Williams at a Havendale residence last summer.
Kartel is slated to stand trial in the Clive Williams murder case on November 5.
