As it stands, we have no govt. We have to wait until swearing in is completed before we see lockdown or scale back measures introduced again. MOH cannot make those decisions

Yes they can. The last sitting GORTT is still empowered to make decisions for the country's welfare.

This first death on May 30, 2020 was roughly 14 days into the first wave. We're already roughly 30 days since this started again.

Also, remember last week when we were in the 50's? ... and now 1 week later we're calmly into the 250's...? ...?!

Sad to say, they will stop blaming people and start doing what was required all along only when a close family member is affected badly.

If we continue this way and allow schools to open back up we're looking at 500+ Covid deaths by the end of the year and 10,000+ cases

Reuter’s News: A shipment of frozen chicken wings tests positive for Novel Coronavirus

A sample taken from the surface of frozen chicken wings imported into the southern city of Shenzhen from Brazil, as well as samples of outer packaging of frozen Ecuadorian shrimp sold in the northwestern Xian city, have tested positive for the virus, local authorities said on Thursday.

The discoveries came a day after traces of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 were found on the packaging of frozen shrimp from Ecuador in a city in eastern Anhui province. China has been stepping up screenings at ports amid the concerns over food imports.

Shenzhen’s health authorities traced and tested everyone who might have come into contact with potentially contaminated food products, and all results were negative, the city’s notice said.

The transfer, or renewal of power is supposed to be seamless. Don't listen to JUHN Scarfy and his "manifesto promises" crap. He doesn't need new MP's to be sworn in to call the shots.

When you see how so many people are wearing their masks incorrectly, covering their chin and not their nose, it's no wonder this thing spreading like that. They lack basic education on how the human body works... like they don't know that they breathe through the mouth AND the nose which are directly connected to the lungs? I have to assume that these people believe that their noses are connected to their ass holes instead, so they can leave the nose uncovered.

As for the typical Karen excuse of "i can't breathe with a mask," well try breathing with covid. We know that they're lying. And if you genuinely can't breathe with a mask on, you have worse problems that you should not even be out in public during covid.

Yeah I honestly try to figure out what people are thinking when they wear the mask and cover their mouth but not their nose. Ideally we should be shielding our eyes too.

The Point Fortin District Court has been closed after a member of staff was exposed to a person who has been tested for Covid-19 and is awaiting results.
In a press release issued this morning, the Judiciary stated that no one will be allowed into the Court building.
They said vacating the building has become necessary as a precautionary measure given that while the staff member has not been confirmed as Covid-19 positive, the usual precautions for this level of exposure have called for the current course of action.
The sanitisation of the facility will be conducted and there shall be no in-person hearings or activities until further notice.
Virtual Court Hearings will continue.
The Judiciary stated that members of the public will be kept apprised of developments and are kindly reminded that services such as CourtPay, the Domestic Violence Hotline and E-filing are available.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-zealand-covid-lockdown-auckland-12-days/

Wellington — New Zealand's government on Friday extended a lockdown of its largest city Auckland for another 12 days as it tries to stamp out its first domestic coronavirus outbreak in more than three months.

The outbreak has grown to 30 people and extended beyond Auckland for the first time. Until the cluster was discovered Tuesday, New Zealand had gone 102 days without infections spreading in the community. The only known cases were travelers quarantined after arriving from abroad.

Health authorities believe the virus must have been reintroduced from overseas, but genome testing hasn't found a link with any of the quarantined travelers. That has prompted authorities to investigate whether shipping workers were a source, after several employees at a food storage facility were infected.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said extending the Auckland lockdown, which began Wednesday, would give authorities time to get a handle on the virus cluster and isolate those infected.

"Together, we have got rid of COVID before," Ardern said in a highly anticipated address. "We have kept it out for 102 days, longer than any other country. We have been world-leading in our COVID response, with the result that many lives were saved and our economy was getting going faster than almost anywhere else. We can do all of that again."

All of the new cases in the outbreak appear to be linked through family or work connections. The only known infections outside Auckland are two people in the central North Island town of Tokoroa who were visited by infected family members from Auckland. Officials said they thought the chances were low the virus would spread further in Tokoroa.

Several of those infected work at an Americold food storage facility in the Auckland suburb of Mt. Wellington. Officials are looking at the possibility that workers on a freight ship or at the port may have spread the infections, despite physical distancing requirements at those sites and orders preventing ship workers coming ashore.

Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield said they were doing rigorous testing at Auckland's port "as part of our investigation just to follow that chain of the Americold goods that might have come in through the port and been transported to that Mt. Wellington depot."

Officials are also investigating the possibility the virus could have survived from abroad on chilled or frozen food boxes and then infected workers in New Zealand, a scenario they consider unlikely.

Bloomfield said they completed a record of more than 15,000 tests Thursday and they were getting a clearer picture of the outbreak's contours.

"All of the cases so far, at this point, are connected. They are all part of one Auckland-based cluster," said Health Minister Chris Hipkins. "And that is good news."

The outbreak has cast doubt on whether New Zealand's general election will go ahead as planned next month and has halted political campaigning. Ardern said she would decide by Sunday whether to delay the election, which she can do by up to about two months under New Zealand law. Opinion polls indicate Ardern's Labour Party is favored to win a second term.
